Default Insurance Good guys

OK we all hate insurance companies as they always try to rip us off - right?

Well here is a good news story!

After my off in May, Norwich Union paid up within 2 days of the assessor seeing the bike and agreeing a value with me. The valuation was only £50 short of my own top valuation, so I accepted happily.

They insured me with no quibble on my new bike, a VFR 800VTEC for £40 more, for the remainder of the policy.

I have now got my renewal notice, for £120 fully comp! This includes the total loss of the SV (lost 2 years NCB) and the excess is the same. This is on a bike that is worth at least 3 times what the SV was and higher insurance group. With the brokers fees that's £140 for the year. Last year I paid £85 fully comp on the SV.

So a big up to Norwich Union for excellent service and good value. The policy was arranged through A Quote insurance on 0870 4446333.

And so the balance is maintained, someone, somewhere, has just received a renewal notice for over a grand on a Honda C90.

Would that be your 'special blue' C90?

Well when I dumped my SV down the road. eBike paid out immediately, £2300 was their valuation on a 2000 V reg bike with 17,000. I wasn't going to argue.

They then insured my GSXR600 for an additional £80.

So like has proved, not all insurance companies are rip off merchants.

Yep, another one that deserve props are National Farmers Union (NFU). They dealt with my claim against them quickly, replied promptly to all correspondance and gave me a fair settlement straight away without any of arguing.

Hey, you can quibble about colour once you finshed getting yours painted. Running around in undercoat like that - it's indecent.

Hmm. When I wrote of my CBR which was mint at just 4 months old they valued it at £4500 (I'd paid £6300 those 4 months previously) and then deducted £600 for the excess (which the policy stated was £500).

I've felt very bitter about it ever since. I was in a real messed up mental state after the accident and struggling to do everyday stuff let alone fight an insurance company. I tried to write some letters to them but they ignored them or said they had no record of the reference number given. Thieving, lying, deceitful scum.

Glad to hear you're happy though Luckypants.
