Question VFR swingarm

Is it possible to fit a VFR Swingarm to a 2001 sv650? If so what year etc would I need to get and would it be worth the hassle?
Thanks

It is possible to fit a vfr swingarm to an Sv but it's not a straight swap and will need a fair bit of fettling to make it fit whether it's worth the hassle depends on how much you want a single sided swingarm

I'm sure Northwind will be along any minute to enlighten you as he's looked into this a lot

Only far enough to decide not to do it Lot of hardcore fabrication, cutting and welding needed. But, Speedfab figured they could do me one for £300 including the arm but not wheel, using one of the boring arms. At the end of the day it's heavier, and quite likely less effective on the road, that much cash buys a ton of real benefits or 20 tanks of petrol. And I'm a total tart, so, if it's too tarty for me, you knows it's tarty.

But then, I'm not a huge fan of the look. I'd pay good money for a neater dual rear arm that actually suited the SV better than the standard one, but single siders on the SV do tend to give the impression that there's a bit missing IMO.

But single-siders look sooooo sexy.

I so very nearly bought an new RC30 in 1989, but my ex-wife (then fiancee) talked me into buying a bloody house instead. Within a year the house was worth 15K less than I paid - that's 5k more than an RC30 would have cost.

Possible, but like the other said, hard to implement. Using the single side swingarm from a Hawk GT (NT650) would be marginally easier, but not by much.

Real Benefit: None. The Single Side swingarm was done for the RC-30 race bike to enable quicker tire changes during the Arai 200 race at Daytona. It was a bit of a flop. Yeah, the tire changes on the rear were quicker, but a good pit man could change out a conventional rear tire pretty quick too. The whole assembly ended up weighing more, costing more to make, without contributing anything to the performance of the bike. On the VFR and HawkGT, it's all done for style.

It looks ace on a bike that's designed for it, I agree, but on a bike that's not... Well, the only single sider I've ever seen on an SV that really looked 100% right was a Spondon banana arm, and it cost £1500 Still, I want one of those.

I've never really seen the appeal of single siders, even on bikes they are designed for.

I always thought it was pointless, but if you have the time and the money you can get anything to fit.

Not that I'd know that answer anyway but I really want to know...

WHICH VFR?
400
750
800

I may be wrong and I'm far from mechanic material but I'm presuming that the size difference between the 400 and the 750 may reflect in the bodywork (i.e. the swingarm) and the 800 being a tourer I presume it'll be different again??

Just an idea. I'd well interested to see if you get it all sorted.. I LUUURVE the little 400 VFR's fantastic bikes Good luck
