Default VOIP hardware help required.

Howdy all, trust all is well for everyone.
Could I trouble one of our IT geeks for a bit of advice?

I recently bought a Philips VOIP\DECT cordless phone. I've installed it all and it works fine, the problem is though that if I try and boot up the PC with the transmitter plugged in via the USB, the machine freezes right at the start of the bootup routine and wont even let me enter the startup or setup menus.

I can start the machine with the transmitter USB unplugged and the PC boots up fine and the telephone works if I plug in the USB with the PC already running.

It's as though I need to 'disable' the USB port neeeds to be disabled during boootup or something. Not sure if that's even possible!

Anyway, any advice greatly appreciated.

Cheers in advance!

somtimes its to do with the ammount of power draw on startup from the usb ports, mabey you have too much connected at the same time to a particular group of usb sockets.

Pure genius! Thanks! It was plugged into the monitor's USB but now it's on the box and works fine.
Cheers!

Personally I would suggest you get an ATA and use an off the shelf DECT telephone. That way you do not need to have your computer turned on to make/receive calls etc.

My sister in Spain has her service supplied by Sipgate and has a UK telephone number etc. So she makes calls to friends/family in the UK at 1p/min or to me and my brother who are also on VoIP free of charge
