Default R6 Throttle tube mod done

And it works.

Travel is drastically reduced from 1/4 turn to less than 1/5 turn, from closed to fully open.

I used Yamaha part number 5SL-26240-01-00 on a '03 model naked pointy. Modifications to the R6 throttle tube to ensure it was fully opening and closing in the SV housing were made as per the pictures found here :

Cost was about 8 quid and the tube came with the throttle grip rubber, so well worth it.

Nice

I'd be happy with just 25bhp extra, I'm not greedy. It's a nice cheap mod and should help me as I suffer with a touch of RSI.

How long did it take? Is the throttle grip the same diameter as the original one on the left bar?

I'm a mechanic by trade, so it took me a total of about half an hour to modify and fit it, then adjust the cables and check it.

If there is a size difference then I didn't notice, but I happen to have a Yamaha left grip of the same pattern on my bike anyway (acquired when I fitted heated grips to a new FJR1300) Even if there's a 2mm difference in diameter, you won't notice. It's not like one will be 10mm thicker or something...grips is grips, they're all about the same diameter give or take a mm or 2.

The throttle tube is the only good bit I've found on any R6.

Did you modify the housing around the end of the throttle tube to give more room for the larger diameter??
I've seen it somewhere that it is necessary but I don't know an easy way to remove material from the housing?!?
Mine came with the housing from the R6 but the entry point of the cables is further from the bars
