As it says, had new tyres fitted recently but noticed not much of alignment when fitting them back on and i know there's a guide on the swingarm but wanted to know if there a more accurate way? - sv650s k3

dont go off the marking on the swingarm, the 2 pieces of string method is best

difficult to explain but easy to do, i'll try, bike needs to be on a center stand or paddock stand, tie a piece of string to you back wheel and wrap it around the width of the tyre so its on the outer edge then run the string down to the front wheel one side then do the same and run the second string around and down to the front wheel the other side. you would get the same effect if you used a straight edge either side of the back wheel running down to the front, then at the front wheel the gaps should be the same each side.

on the back tyre the strings should just be touching the most frontal part of the rear tyre, and then kept straight.

That was perfectly explained. I use 2 nice STRAIGHT pieces of wood like you mentioned a straight edge because I know for me it was hard to use string and know that its exactly straight and touching the front of the rear tyre correctly. Also using 2 straight edges you can bungie them to the rear and you can see the effect as you make adjustments. Your little pic is perfect.
