You need to put less weight on your arms. Keep those elbows bent and grip the bike with your knees.

Adjust your clutch and front brake lever so that theres a straight line through your elbow, wrist to the end of your finger tips. Relax and grip the tank more with your knees like Razor says...
and then ride your bike more so you build up the muscles you're using and then you wont ache.

I had a similar thing with my pointy - after learning on a sit up and beg type, I though "OMG, what the hell is this...?"
But gripping my knees with the tank (partly to stop the crown jewels beings smashed when I brake) and moving the brake and clutch levers down have done wonders... Also, A few good rides will acclimatise you to the position. I could be shooting myslef in the foot as I will be riding to Wales next weekend, and I havent ridden that far yet! |

I see MickyT has spotted the ad in For Sale for the sunrisers.
There's also some Hawk GT bars on there http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=93494 which make a neat conversion. I fitted some FJ1200 bars on my curvy with a little modification (grinding some meat away to clear the top yoke) http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.p...ghlight=fj1200 Having done plenty of miles with them I have to say the bike is much nicer to ride, not that I found wrist ache a problem but simply the riding position is much improved. You'll probably need a longer brake hose whichever way you go. I had one made up at a local place which does some preparation for bike racing, around £20 in stainless fittings. Clutch side just needed re-routing of cables. |
