Do these have any benefit or are they purely cosmetic?

99% Cosmetic.

Cheaper than OEM replacements possibly, depending on which make you choose.

I believe Braking Wave or Galfer are the best.

Heres my Braking Wave

On the one bike I've tried with these it made no difference that I could tell. My mate bought them, and beforehand I looked up some reviews that said the same thing too, so it was no surprise to me!

Go for the "braking" ones.

Braking are the only ones I'd fit personally, or WRP, but they don't do an SV fit. Stealth inexplicably blackcoat some of theirs, which of course instantly rubs off and looks rubbish The cheap ones on Ebay tend to warp very easily, though they look OK, and Galfer have a rep for cracking if used with aggressive pads (which is odd, since there's a lot of rumours that the discs come out of the same factory as Braking)

Not that I could tell any difference, in fact the Braking ones I had on the GSXR front were actually heavier than the OE Honda ones I've got fitted now, and the EBC ones I had before that were better for braking (though completely impractical, they rust as soon as it even looks wet)

Its normally the rears that crack through both Galfer and Braking, only happens if there used alot (if your std rear disc is blue dont buy a lightweight wavy disc )

True that, though I've seen front Galfers crack too (Galfer blamed the owner for using EBC pads)
