Hello all
I have a clutch problem with my sv650 s k1 (2001) A while back i couldnt select neutral from first after stopping at traffic lights or junctions etc if i stopped the engine it flicked up fine. I put it in the shop and they discovered that a piece about one inch long had snapped on one of the secondry clutch plates this was replaced and all was ok for about 3 weeks but now its started again sometimes just needs a bit more force other times just wont move when this happens clutch is also dragging like the first time. Bike is bog standard and as far as i know all obvious stuff checks out fine ie- clutch cable adjustment/chain tension/gearbox oil etc All other gears are fine up or down its just this first to neutral when not moving Any thoughts greatly appreciated |

If you're having trouble getting neutral then the clutch is still dragging.
I assume by secondary plate you mean plain plate? That is; not the plates with the inserts in - the friction plates. Was just one plate replaced? I'd be checking the lot - I strongly suspect there's a warped plate in there somewhere. Another possibility is that the broken plate has damaged the hub and is causing the plates to hang on it and not separate cleanly.

Better late than never with this update.
Put the bike back in a different shop and after a bit of adjustment the problem is solved. Just like that, Anyone looking for a brilliant SV mechanic call BBS BIKES in Stone near Dartford 01474833553 this guy knows his onions highly recomended. |
