Default New Bikers Rideout ??

Would anybody be interested in a ride out aimed at new/novice riders ?

I've seen this done with other clubs/forums, and I think we may have done something like it in the past. We have had a number of "newbies" lately, and I'd be prepared to organise something in the South East. I may be able to get somebody to volunteer in other regions too.

This is not any form of "training", just a gentle ride not a break neck speed to introduce people to to "Group Riding" and what goes with it.

I'd suggest no more than 120 miles, on a Sunday, depending on the weather, and I'll sort a route.

If there's enough interest to do this I could also do with a few more experienced riders to muck in too.

So, any interest ?

If you're in a different region state where so we can get an idea of how many of you there are.

I'm quite prepared to do this with 3 or 4 riders so we don't need loads to make it work.

I'd be more than happy to help you out - TEC or whatever.

I remember what it was like when I got my first 'big' bike & how nervous I was riding in a group for the first time.

Just let me know where & when.

I'd be up for this. I'm in the Reading area, and passed my DAS a month ago tomorrow, having had no previous experience!

Good idea Jelster. When I first passed I found group riding with people I knew was really helpful. Happy to come along if I'm free

I think I'm experienced with group rides and am happy to help in north west / Midlands, north Wales (obviously) and mid Wales

Care to elaborate ?

what are you planning to teach these people?
or are you talking about a gentle ride in a group ?

Is it anything like the one I did last year (or was it the year before?).

As that covered :-
Bike Prep,
Group Riding Etiquette,
the fundimentals of route planning,
tank lists & maps,
speeds and road conditions,
delivering a Rider briefing and it's content,
marker system,
modified marker system,
Rider behind in mirror method,
town riding,
practical application of the four types.

got all the paperwork (well saved docs), which includes lesson plan, introduction, disclaimer, Day program and hand out template, somewhere.

Cheers Mark.

Mark,

Nothing mechanical, nothing technical. Just an introduction into group riding, simple as that.

I don't have time to post a list of the things I was going to cover, but I will do closer to the date.

However, if you want to take this on then be my guest

.

the whole point of the structuring of the previous day and supporting paperwork was that it could be used again and any reasonably competent person could deliver it.

As to myself, well standing is much of a painful problem at present, with more surgery on the way, much as it'd be a simple and well practised thing to deliver my reliability is totally dependent on the knee holding out and as demonstrated last night on the way out to dinner can be cruelly and abruptly curtailed, so as the major content work has already been done I'd propose if anyone want to run the lesson plan previously used (as outlined above) Just PM me and I'll sort it out with them.

Cheers Mark.
