Hi,
My bike's picked up a strange thing, if I keep a high speed then the FI warning light comes on and the engine wont rev below 4,000rpm. Happens on the motorway if i keep the engine above about 7000rpm for a long stint. Once it's on the engine still feels fine but pulling in the clutch and it just sits at 4000rpm. I can then quickly restart the engine while on the move and it sorts itself out. I thougth it was a wet weather issue but it was doing it this weekend as well. Any ideas? |

Happened to me for a while once, and I think it was wet weather realted. I beefed up the water protection over the back wheel and it's been fine since. You got a tail tidy fitted?

Just seal up the back well and you should be fine.

It's a 9 year old post...but maybe someone will read it. XD i also have similar problem...on high speeds and rev above 7k rpm the FI light comes up and the bike wont rev below 4k rpm. I managed to get the diagnostic tool and i got no C error, insread i got FI or F1 in the area where the code should be. No water involved in my case

FI stands for Fuel Injection but it can be anything in between.
might help if you tell us what year the bike is. |

Without confirming it in the Haynes manual , I think that is the fault code for the secondary throttle valves , so maybe check the servo / actuator itself or its associated wiring .

yup it STVA. you might want to check that the linkages on the throttle bodies are not getting caught on anything and are free of grit/dirt. try giving the knuckle joints a spray with dry film lubricant.
after that check your TPS setting. |
