Been reminded by RIP thread that I nearly killed two kids (not my fault!) taking my bike back to the shop after passing my test on it.
Sooo....any more stories?
After passing test, instructor said fine, take bike back to shop on your own ( literally < a 5 min ride). No problem, going back to shop nice and slow, pull up at red lights turning right, front of queue of cars. Lights go green, glance back, just starting to pull away when a kid 16ish (looks younger) pulls in front on a scooter. Yank brakes on, clutch in, blink, start to set off again and a kid that looks 10 does exactly the same! Do a complete owl impression making sure no more around before I set off again, lady driver in car behind is looking very aghast, shrug and pull away. Catch up to kids 100 yds later at next set of lights, lights go green, they sit there talking.
Encourage them to move with an "Oy!" and pointing at lights. Go 50 yds and into stationary traffic with a solid central reservation, cars so close to it can't get past. Kids try and fail, decide to cross road at turning, pull across without looking straight in front of moving car which has to brake sharply!
Glad that I drove my car to the bike shop so I could go home feeling safer. (Always did that after trying to ride my 125 after the 600 and nothing happening when I turned throttle).
