Default Test rode a Fazer 1000

I just came back from a test ride on a Fazer thou 2007. Obviously very different from my current bike so here goes the detail of how I found it.

Power - found the delivery very smooth! although it has 150bhp it felt very easy to ride and accelerate out of corners without the fear of the bike going wild because of the power. On the other hand I did find it too smooth and would very much like to hear of any cheap options to unleash the beast a bit more.

Handling & Riding position - very comfy and the handlebar is very street fighter like. A lot easier to throw into turns than my SV650 and will forgive you if you make a mistake on a turn.

Brakes - AWESOME! the bike I test rode had ABS on it and the brakes felt like throwing an anchor behind you!!

I would love to have this bike, 1 thing to consider though is the original screen being too short. Not sure how it would look with the touring screen on it though. Also depreciation is another point to raise! OTR price is £7300 and yet you can find privately bikes for less than £5500 with less than 3k miles

The fazer looks really good, I nearly bought an 07 600 S2 but then I saw (and heard) an sv. I put my deposit down and with the money I saved bought mods to make it ride like a bit like a fazer.

I only just read it and since you insist I'll comment as well (I have nothing better to do either )

I had the FZ1 Fazer for 2 days while the TDM was in for its 50k km maintenace. And I must agree, it is a great bike, although I prefer the looks of the naked FZ1. The bike handles perfectly, neutral and light. The brakes are indeed more than adequate and predictable and controllable. And the power... well the power is just endless. I would not call the acceleration as smooth as you describe while opening the throttle on the Motorway at 120kph the rest of the traffic suddenly looked like it was standing still.
Actually the power is just way beyond what I would ever use on the road. The FZ went to 200kph without even blinking, in 4th gear with still 4500rpm to spare... If you want more acceleration there is plenty of margin to change to a bigger rear sprocket.
Would I ever buy it? guess not, it has too many Cylinders
Will I accept if the dealer lets me play with it some more? H#ll yes!!!

You going to try a Tuono or Super Duke - maybe worth a comparison if you like big nakeds also priced similar. Retains the twin characteristics.

I've only ridden the FZ-1 naked one. I was quite impressed to be honest. Fueling niggles look like they were sorted from the 06 model (some say that was not as bad as peeps made out anyway). It went well, stopped very well and handled a treat. If in a short test ride 150 ponies is not enough (plenty for me on a naked) I think you need the B-King, that should do it.

you went from an SV to a fazer without being overwhelmed by the power?! Did you rev it properly?!! I found a cbr600rr enlightening enough!
