furniture
Anybody had any experience with dealing with Swedens greatest export?
Paid for a sofa, arrived in pieces (didn't expect that, thought it would come assembled but on reflection I was lucky to get it in pieces instead of a tree, alive sheep and a weaving loom). But they gave us 2 left arms, not a right and a left. No amount of bargaining /phoning/pleading has resulted in any action from them whatsoever. I just want my money back! Has anyone got that killer tactic that will get results?

I'm guessing its ikea or something, put the whole lot in a car and get all the paper work and go to the store and explain the situation, if there is no action refuse to leave until the give you a letter signed by the manager saying that they will at least give you a right arm.

At least you have got some legs to stand on......

So it's not ambidextrous then - I say go down to the local shop and confront them, can't be any arm in it!!

Sorry, could not resist

I cant imagine Ikea doing that? Did you pay online by Credit Card? If it wasnt signed dispute the transaction until they cooperate.

Yep I'm kicking myself, I usually pay for this kinda stuff with my barclaycard, there very good at stopping payment and forcing a solution
But I paid with a debit card.
The car aint big enuff either....'spose I could deliver it back to them in bits
This lot really have me over a barrel...I'll have to go to the small claims court unless anybody has got any other ideas

What are they actually saying when you tell them you have 2 left arms? And are you speaking with the right person there do you think?

Write a carefully worded letter explaining the problem and how you would like the problem resolved - remember to mention the 'sale of goods act' (use google) - basically goods have to be fit for the purpose they were designed for...HTH.

I had some issues with a table I got from them - I got 8 left sides and no right sides.

So I called them and they sent out the 4 right sides

Only problem was some muppet bound them together with that awful brown packing tabe - which stripped the finish off them.

So another set of right sides were sent out to me

I had two drawer bases missing from an Ikea flatpack chest of drawers recently. Went down to the returns desk and they supplied the missing bits straight away, no problem. Didn't even have the receipt with me, just showed them the assembly manual. Had to bungee them to the pillion seat to get them home though ...

So :
Try taking the arm back to a store, with any paperwork you do have.
Their returns policy usual seems to be pretty good, hopefully you'll be OK.

The sofa was not available 'Take Away', they had to deliver it from somewhere ( probably Hell). Problem is now that that the delivery company need to come out and either pick it all up before we can get a refund, OR pick up the wrong bit and deliver a new bit. The delivery company are refusing to call us back though! Despite promises they just never return our call to even arrange a possible delivery slot! So........we're stuffed until they call us! Customer service tell us it could be weeks before it's sorted, possibly months, and they are blaming the delivery company, but refuse to give us the number as it's all done 'internally'. I'll give 'em internal....
