Default The weather to come and riding! Please Read!

Right guys its coming we all know it and i felt a bit of a chill this morning and after my scrape yesterday and the fall offs at the moment i would like to stress that it is obviously going to get worse in the next month or so.

SO PLEASE RIDE SAFE! If it takes long to get there its better than not gettin there at all.

I know i need to take some of my own advice but guys let try and make this a faultless winter for all. I wanna see some more bikes at the AR next year.

Indeed. Give time for engines to warm up, tyres to warm up, and brake earlier to let the brakes get some heat.

And if you ride in cold weather, wrap up warm, and keep hands warm. COld hands means little control. I recommend muffs!

TBH, kinda comment sense to let engine and tyres warm up. Would never ride hard until both are up to temp anyway. In fact, i even limit myself to 65mph (revs high in 6th) until i've done a few miles on the motorway.

I noticed it was cold this morning on my hands, but then im still in my summer gloves.

I could do with getting my hands in some mu.... Oh I see. Yes.

I reckon I'll be getting my hands on a decent pair of thick winter gloves this year and some decent inner gloves. I've heard varying stories about the 2 finger gloves.

I need to keep my wits about, I reckon- had a close one a while back in very wet weather- locked the back up when a driver nearly pulled out on me and it was very nearly goodbye D, so, yes- and slow down!!

its getting there, london was 6c this morning, tyres felt very slippy!!

i'll be going to work on my scoot soon and saving the SV for dry, bright winter days, on teh plus side this winter is supposedly going to be drier than last years.

Good point. It seems that now the cold weather is closing in the cage drivers are doing their best to kill me. After my close encounter yesturday and a near miss today (when a garbage truck tried to overtake me by sideswiping me out of his lane) I am thinking that we all need to be on high alert!

Yes good post

Weather is great for running the dogs... but not for running the bikes was very nippy this morning 7 degrees in Guildford.

Also the sun is lower at rush hour, i have noticed a few times that visibility is poor!! Accidents all over the place at the moment... its hard enough to see cars coming when the sun is shining in your eyes, let alone bikes... be careful guys!!

It was 3.5 degrees when i got in the cage this morning but the thermometer may be as rubbish as the rest of the car!

The roads and weather weren't biker friendly so it was nice to sit in traffic with the heating on. Can anyone recomend a barge sized 125 scooter for winter use?

My SV will die up north if winter winter strikes properly!

Get electric gloves! Gerbing is the make and has a lifetime guarntee, I used them while we were on our very wet AR07! If you don't believe me ask Quiff! He has tried them on and also Jambo i think. Havent seen them in a while on here lately

I will ride until they start salting in mid-oct then stop until the salting ceases in late March. Bottle of fuel stabilizer + optimate charger + car keys for me! Too many factors outside of my control make riding on those dark ice ridden winter mornings too dangerous. I could get a 125 moped and start work later but then I don't fancy riding home in the pouring rain as it starts to get dark with half asleep cagers swarming around me.
