Default New can = no warranty?

Hi guys, just a quick one. I know alot of you have aftermarket cans, I was wondering wether or not it will effect my warranty if I fit one? Cheers.

I asked the dealer I bought my SV from whether it would effect the warranty, they said a big fat NO, only on the part change IE the exhaust. So if the Exhaust system cracks etc then you wont beable to claim.

Do you think it would be wise to consult the dealer I got my bike from then?

Are exhausts part of the warrantee in the first place, or do they consider them as a consumable like tyres.

Would I need to get the can fitted by a bike garage then rather than doing it myself?

Wouldnt have thought it makes much difference.....I know I would much rather do it myself as I know I take more care. Although if it doesnt sit right at least you would have someone to blame.

I would be more than happy to do it myself and agree that I would take ridiculous amounts of care! I was thinking more along the lines of the dealer saying "Oh you fitted it, that'll void your warranty then!"

If you do ask your dealer if the warranty will be affected, do it by post.
Don't put a telephone number on the letter and ask them to reply to your letter.
That way, you will have their reply in writing if things go pear shaped a few months down the line.
