Default Introducing BT FON (geek thread)

I think it was Kinvig who brought everyone's attention to the FON idea (free wireless broadband for everyone in the FON community - subject to you sharing your broadband with others in the community).

Well, I for one signed up to it.

Now they've gone & launched a deal with BT.

If you're a FON member, you now get access to all BT FON spots (but not BT Openzone or whatever it's called).

If you're a BT Total broadband user, you get the BT Openzone as you always have, and now get the BT FON hotspots, and all FON hotspots (you just need to register - http://www.btfon.co.uk/register )

So either way, more roaming internet access.

You still can.

http://www.fon.com/en/

They'll send you the wifi "router" free, they'll pay for postage. All you do is jack it into an RJ45 port, then connect to your private wireless network (it offers two, a private one for your use, and a public one for the FON community to use). Tell it your FON membership details, and bingo. Done.
