Default Consumer Rights Advice

Morning,

I need to dip into the well of sv knowledge for some advice...

My laptop has fritzed exactly one month out of warranty. PC World naturally don't want to know unless I pay to have it repaired.

Now I have heard of people claiming 'reasonable life' ie I should expect my £600 machine to work slightly longer than 13 months...

Before I wade in there and start shouting I want to make sure I have all my facts straight. So, has anyone used this particular clause, and does someone have a weblink. I've looked but can't find anything. Also is it law, or is this discretionary?

The kicker is that this machine is leased through their Smartplan, so I don't actually own it I just lease it from them, but apparently unless I take out an extended warranty its not covered! So, that means in September when it comes to upgrade I take them back a £600 doorstop and they give me a shiny new machine. Go figure....

Thanks in advance.

Gordon

Don't know, but it refuses to power up and I've tried 2 different adaptors, so I know its an internal fault.

Update: Because the agreement is in my company name it means that SWMBO can get on the case, look out PC World.....

I sent my toshiba off for repairs, they had it 4 1/2 months they then returned it with a £90 bill for delivery/collection/new adaptor. That adaptor then broke within a week. 6 months (without use) afterwards I find out they supplied it with the wrong adaptor, its power output was too low and they were burning out. Rubbish.

Remind me not to buy a Tosh next time out then...

So, can anyone help out with the reasonable life thing then....
