not available as an aftermatket purchase because the tail is integrated into the oem undertray. i asked the same question myself when i got my '99 curvy

here is a template for making, or butchering if you will, a new undertray that will accept an aftermarket tailtidy, but it seems like a whole load of nightmare.

Do you think it needs it? The curvy back end looks tasty!

I can understand it for the pointy tho' as the number plate hanger really sticks out from the back of the bike, almost like it was an after thought of the designer....

i would love to get rid of the huge back end on my curvy
look at the photo - you can barely see past it :D

You could fit one of the undertrays that are available, then one of the RSend plate mounts - that tidys it up a bit.

Suzuki made the best undertray for the curvy SV, it accepted all the OEM equipment and also came with the internal storage tray. It was a straight swop with the OEM tail section. Unfortunately it is nolonger available from Suzuki, unless a store has one instock (unlikely).

All other types require you to cut down the mudflap, if you are willing to do this I would reccomend the Pyramid Plastics one (its is also available colour matched).

Maultin - You can make your back end a couple of inches shorter if you wish. Look carefully at the mudguard part of the back end, at the bottom of the number plate you'll notice that there is another piece bolted on the extend the mud flap down a bit.

I've got a Pyramid undertray on mine and still have all my under seat storage as you only cut off the back section

i really like the look of the pyramid plastics undertray but at £130 i will have to think very carefully.
Dangerous Dave - any ideas of how much butchery i would have to do to the existing back end to fit the pyramid undertray?

BanditMania do several and there's a French firm something like FDR (but I know that is wrong). Someone will no dout come up with the correct name.

Do you mean these guys

http://www.tcpsa.com/

This is the company that made the OEM undertray. The do list the SV undertray on their website, but whether or not they'll sell you one direct I dont know.

You dont need to cut it down drastically, i managed to do mine with a stanley knife, just kind of cut around the ecu

I'll sort you a couple of pics in a minute once i've finished eating  as i've got my undertray off at the moment

fizzwheel - to the best of your knowledge will the TCP undertray fit onto a '99 naked SV650?
I have emailled them but just thought i would ask incase you already know.

Thanks,

I believe it will. Thats the same undertray as the Suzuki OEM tray TCP are the company that make them for Suzuki.

Mautlin - this is the OEM TCP tray on my SVS just so you can get an idea of what an undertray is going to look like

I personally don't like the look of them either, just looks like you were too tight to buy an undertray

anyway here's a couple of pics of the rear of mine minus the Pyramid undertray

a bit more than is actually necessary to be cutted off hasd been cutted off on this one but then I didn't do this one

lol.

Theres some fibreglass ones on ebay, which is what I got. Way cheaper than the originals, but do need painting. The one I got keeps the origianl undertray, minus the bits like dirty dogs. Only diff is it doesn't have the extra lump for the ECU, so I just moved it to the side of the rear subframe.

Does any of that make any sense? lol

Maultin, sorry for the late reply. Its quite simple really on knowing what to remove from the undertray (see dirtydogs pictures in his post). Pyramid will send you instructions with the undertray, all you do is cut off the piece that the number plate and number plate light bolt on to. Basically anything that hangs down below the bodywork when looking from the side. Personally I would go for the Suzuki/TCP (they are the same) version, you simply unbolt your standard black on and bolt in the TCP one. No cutting required and it comes colour matched. You can't get one from Suzuki anymore but TCP maybe able to help.

Just found this on the bandit mania website, its advertised as no cut (bolt on)

I'd have agree with you on that one, it is a bit steep (£175) for what it is.

How much would the TCP Official Suzuki one cost? I'm probs going pyrmaid but that one does look quite tasty IMO if a simular price to the pyramid?!

I got an email from TCP Holland today. They will send a replacement undertray for the SV650 direct to UK for €219 (inc' P&P).

So would that in GBP be about the same as the ROCA one then off of Bandit Mania?

That would be about £158 for the TCP one compared to the £174.83 for the ROCA one on Banditmania. Both come colour matched. I would go for the TCP one as it really is of good quality and fits perfectly (no cutting required).

Fair enough it is rather nice the TCP one. I Suppose if you still didnt want the standard number plate light and indicators you could still change them?

Not to sure on the number plate light, but yes you can use aftermarket indicators with the TCP undertray.

well serching for some lowers (different thread) i found some fairings i liked, searching on their website i found they do undertrays for 60 quid, only trouble is the company is in France

http://www.poly26.com/produits/photos/15.jpghttp://www.poly26.com/produits/photos/1145.jpg

cant see any openings for indicators so may require some tinkering. also the web page is in french so i cant understand a thing but this is definatly for a for a sv curvy, i worked that much out

i found a company that import the fairings but they don't have the undertrays, i suppose if you asked them they could, will add later i bookmarked the weby on me laptop but not on it at the mo

Dangerous Dave
19-12-07, 07:32 PM
I think that is a Poly26 item isn't it? You'll still need to cut the mudguard down as you do with the Pyramid one though, and get it painted. Rhencullen do a few from a company called ROCA, these too all require you to cut the OEM mudguard off....

You could try asking The Bike Hut to see if they have any spare OEM undertrays to butcher, save yours for the resale.

www.svspares.com (http://www.svspares.com)

I got one from them years ago, I bought a second hand SV which had a ridiculous and hideous undertray that clipped over the tail light also.
