Anyone else have a missus who insists that these hair straighteners are the best?

Cant see the difference between the spec of a 20 pair of ceramic 1000watters and these ghds that cost me a 100 quid a throw?

they must think were mad

WTF are hair straighteners?

I have a No 5 all over...............dries quickly, helmet friendly, and gives me more money to spend on the bike:)

Mrs Messy works in a hairdressing wholesalers. She says GHD's are overpriced and they get a lot of complaints about them! Really cheap ones are not very good they are only ceramic coated and do not get as hot as the better ones. CHI's or FHI's are good at around £60 to £80.

I wonder if she's posting away on some girly hair fashion forum saying the same about end cans?;)

Apparently those ghds have a habit of breaking after a year... I don't use straighteners, bad for the hair anyway and far too much bother. And doesn't matter if am here in Wales or back home, either way the rain soon gets rid of the straightness!

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!

ARE YOU MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

GHD`s are the holy grail of hair straighteners, they are to hair what my akrapovic is to my SV. I`ve tried all types of hair straighteners but as far as i`m concerned i wasted my money. I got mine on Ebay for the bargain price of £60. I wouldn`t be without them... touch them and i`ll hurt you!!! :smt066

I`m still trying to figure out how to carry a generator in my panniers to the AR08 in order to plug my straighteners in

Vickster

I don't have GHD but I do have some that are within the same price region. Absolutely swear by them, the 20 quid ones are shi te. I've had mine for over two years and definitely got my moneys worth.

You soft git, be a real man. Get the wife/daughter whatever to buy you a set of clippers and do it properly (Only a poof would buy his own)

Real men do a DIY No 1.

TBH, Poofs have more guts that real men, we could not stand the shame of buying our own.

And my daughter insisted on GHDs. At 13 months I had to look at them. Meter says power to controls, hands say no power to heating elements. Diagnosis is a well designed expensive set of straighteners that need replacing every 13 months. Should have invested in the company

Speedy Claire
03-02-08, 12:34 PM
Also meant to say earlier re. all the comments bout them damaging your hair... i think if you use a good straightening product plus a hair trim every 6 weeks the damage is quite limited.

After all, prior to the introduction of hair straighteners women were shoving their head on an ironing board and running the iron over their hair!!!

I have no use for hair straighteners ... #1 all over for me ... and even then it hardly even grazes the top LMAO ... I do it myself too as my local barber shop insists on charging me OAP rates because there's so little to take off PMSL

Moisturisers - I use Gillette after-shave balm (does that count?) ... although I feel it won't be long before it's useage is extended to the rest of my bonce ;-)

My hairdresser does my bonce at her house after work so it costs me a whole lot less than if she was..I've had 22 inch hair extensions, pink streaks curly extension god alsorts.....as for not being able to do the back of my head with a set of hair straightners, its a piece of...pi**. GHDs are an essential element of any female's equipment - I'm on my second pair after the first pair were trodden on.

I've had a straightening habit for nearly ten years now - my first pair looked like an alarming 'toy' you would use in the bedroom, and it took HOURS to straighten my hair - GHDs were a godsend.

Before straighteners, I had short hair, that was my way around the curly hair problem!

Helmet does tend to wreck my hair :(

I`ve just washed my hair, will dry it using protection products that cost 9 quid a bottle, then am gonna apply straightening products that cost me nearly 7 quid a bottle, then gonna straighten it with expensive GHD`s then gonna shove my head in a helmet and get my bike out. WHY`VE I EVEN BOTHERED JUST WASHING MY HAIR???? :D

PS: Why can`t i do pound symbols on here??

Yup, overpriced and bought mainly for the brand name ;)

Expensive hair full stop.

My grade 2 all over costs ?6.75

Why pay for a grade 2 all over? Buy some ceramic hair clippers and they'll last for years and are about ?25!!

we went on a mountain biking holiday last year.... me and 3 lads shared a 1 bed appartment ( I know I'm surprised they managed to control themselves as well :D) anyway, one of them got up one morning and his hair straightners fell out of his bag .... Jes did we rib him .... his hair always looks so tossled and natural, but all along he has been faffing with it ...... was the highlight of my holiday .... well nearly! We agreed to take the pi$$ all holiday, but to never bring the story back home ..... ooops, what have I done :D
