I've created this thread so we can discuss on an ongoing basis local rideouts. Once a decision has been made, a separate thread can be created with a poll for a head count. This thread can remain a sticky thread. I've deleted the this weekend poll. Once your decided, a new poll can be created.

Going back to ASM's comment.

The GM are having a rideout this Sunday led by ET. Something worth considering maybe.

Which is exactly why I also wont be doing a rideout this weekend. The kids need to be organised on Sunday. Saturday is rehearsals.

Mothers expect you to disappoint. If you don't then that may cause them to be disappointed. Just arrange some nice flowers to be delivered and you're off scott free. Always works for me.......

Sunday is proably out for me too cos I should go see me mom really. Plus it's a nice ride (going via fish hill) so I enjoy the journey. If people make up their minds about saturday BEFORE saturday morning then I'd be up for it - otherwise I might go out on friday which wil mean hangover. i'm busy in the morning bu could do the afternoon I reckon. Would be nice to actually go for a ride with you guys, it's been a while.

If I am out on Sunday, then it'll be for an Aylesbury - Buckingham - Bicester - Thame - Postcombe hoon. If anyone else fancies tagging along (starting at the Shire Horse if need be), let me know. I'll probably be on the diesel this time.

All depends on the weather though, really.

ASM-Forever
07-03-08, 04:38 PM
I don't know about the quality of their work, but even if the prices are good they are taking the **** royally!

Ok DWR are one of the more expensive garages, but i've just turned up there in the past and got stuff sorted. They are a good garage and are usually really busy and if they cant see to it immediately they will let you know when they will get to it.

I can't think of when i've had a broken promise from them. If they say they will do something by a certain time then they deliver. They let you know if anything unexpected has popped up and if its cheap they fix it at their discretion, often without charging extra.

Ok the price is good and collection is a great bonus, but IMHO they're seriously out of order for keeping it so long. I'm no mechanic, but they should be able to sort it pretty quickly if they wanted to.

It went in for cam chain , new chain & sprockets, new horn and replacement fork oil.. Everything bar the cam chain was done in the first day or two but the cam chain has been the problem. It arrived late then they found a siezed bolt which took several days of soaking in something to free it up and now he says its a bigger job than he thought, he had to strip it down a lot futher which would have cost a lot more if he hadn't quoted me already!

To be fair I did tell him i'm not in any rush as I don't commute on it..

Stig
07-03-08, 07:19 PM
Lame excuses if you ask me. And you made the fatal mistake of saying you were in no rush. That no means your bike is stuck in the corner of the garage and will get seen to if there is nothing else to do. It's not always a good thing to get a cost price job. If it takes them longer than expected that means it's money down the pan for them. That's why they will leave it to one side until there is nothing else to do.

Hi and welcome to the TV section. :thumleft:

See here (http://forums.sv650.org/calendar.php?do=getinfo&day=2008-4-1&e=89&c=1) regarding our local meet. A week tomorrow for the next one.

Will be good to see you there. There are a couple of guys that live in your area, I am sure you would be able to meet up with them to ride to the Shire.

philbut
24-03-08, 07:19 PM
Yep, me and warthog are both Oxford Yokals, er I mean locals, and will be at the next meet. Could meet up at Fox's if you like to ride to the shire. not sure what the ride out situatuion is like at the mo, as I've been too busy to really go on any recently, but if you ever fancy a quick bimble in the evening then stick up a post - I'm always up for a coffee at Fox's. The clocks go forward soon too so more riding time in the evening :thumleft: I've been itching to get my SV out of the garrage, so give me an excuse. warthog is usually up for a ride if he's not busy too.

That sounds good enough for me. I assume you know where Fox's is? if not we could meet in town somewhere (but its real easy to find tbh) Could go for a ride down the B4011 after - some of the best roads round here I reckon. I'm sure warthog (or nick as those of us in the know call him ;-) ) might be persuaded to join us.

Any other TV members fancy a trip up to Fox's on the 5th? could be part of a rideout? I keep missing them so i'll keep saturday reserved for two wheeled related stuff.
