Just got a quote from Lloyds for a loan to pay off a lloyds credit card and another Lloyds loan.
Nearly fell off my chair when she quoted me the 20%APR figure,
Is there something i don't know?
I can give you one for 15%APR

Cheap credit's getting hard to find :( Also, some of banks now weight their APRs dependant on credit search results. And it's common practice to hit smaller borrowers with higher APR, for various reasons, it might be worth requoting with a different amount. Did you take protection? It's often not a very good idea that, depends on your circumstances.
Just did a search of my lot, the Bank of Scotland standard loan rate is 8.4%. But that's credit search dependant I think.

UNless you've had issues in the past may I suggest giving HSBC a try. DO NOT apply online......as with most banks you can actuall get a better APR in the branch.......thats what happened with us. APR went from 17% to 12%......just depends on who you are, history etc.
Better still, don't give the buggers the opportunity - cut up the f*cking card and pay off as much as you can afford every month. I cut up mine some years ago, fed up with being shafted, and oh how I don't regret it.

I got a quote for a secured loan last week. I didn't want one they just kept hassling me so I said alright as long as they didn't do a search. Bearing in mind I have never missed a payment on any credit I've ever had and my credit score is 988 out of 1000 (experian). They came back and said they would be willing to lend me ?13'000 and the monthly repayments would be ?342 per month. So I asked what the loan term was............................................... 7 years!!!
I laughed down the phone at the guy and asked him if he knew how much the total repayment would be, he didn't know so I told him. ?28'728. I mean I know loan sharks that would give me a better deal!!
Check out www.moneysupermarket.com (http://www.moneysupermarket.com) you might get something good there. I got a loan about 2 years ago at 5.5%.
They charge you loads and give you nothing back,
after my divorce and sale of house I now have rather a large amount to invest.
what a waste of time.
Its all take take take

At a higher rate of interest than you can get with a loan? The buggers will be delighted... That's just throwing money away.

I agree. If you can get a loan with a smaller APR then it makes financial sense to do so.

All good advice!
I wanted ?11,000 altogether but i think i'll just have to ride it out. got a credit score of 930/1000 with experian thought that would be good enough for a decent rate but apparently not.
Snapped my credit card in two a few months back whilst defrosting my mates windscreen, maybe it was a sign! :)
P.s Hovis, i'll take you up on that fiver cheers mate.
