Just been researching this bike and looking for deals on it. Stumbled on an american site selling it for $8500 which is £4373 MRP. Are they having a laugh?! So us poor English are paying £7400. A lot of other US sites sell them for around the £5k mark so it's no one off!

Sorry had to post this! Makes my blood boil!;)

Same with the SV! I think it's just over a grand cheaper for the naked K8 SV. It is bloody annoying!

I think it's scandalous m8! Assuming emissions rules add to expense but not 3k more that's for sure!

Importing time!?

Depends how much you'd have to spend to get in on the road over here but with a three grand difference on the CBR, I reckon you might be able to get it on the road and still save some money.

Bearing in mind money is worth less over there, they genrally earn less so things cost less. Its all relative.

A bit like complaining that a beer in india is 10p or whatever, 10p is prabably roughly the same value as a 3 pound pint over here given the wages.

Didn't think about that neio, you're probably right. But shouldn't the cost of such products be the same wherever you are. It sounds like they're pricing them based on your affordability but the underlying product doesn't cost any more wherever it is sold.

If each country made them and sold them to their own markets, price differences could be expected but aren't they all made in one place?!

I dunno, just gawls me to spend 7.4k when one can be had 3k cheaper that's all!

BTW How much did you pay for your zx neio? Good price? Possible interested in one of those too ;)

Their value added tax might be less as well. but if you made everything in the UK the same price as say the US then inflation would go through the roof as our equivilent wages are higher and cost of living higher as well to match.

But you are right it seems anoying to see we have to pay 3K more for the same bike.

My ZX, got a cracking deal on it yes.

Traded my 53 SV in for 2K, the ZX was going for 5500 OTR so only really had to pay 3500 for a new bike

That was George whites in Swindon.

It's rip-off Britain, that's all. There's no real justification other than we'll pay it, and our government takes a slice at every transaction

Saying that, petrol has hit 50p/litre over there ;)

I paid 117p for petrol near skegness at the weekend, diesel was 129p lol

I would love to know where it will end, but really cant predict it.

Part of me wishes the conservatives would get voted in (they probably will) and they will also reduce taxes and fuel duty like the say they will. (Probably all lies)

I feel privelaged to be living through this mess, and the fact that at some point will live through the world massively changing as we know it, as its going to have to in our life time as it simply cant carry on as it is.

Things are set to get much harder. I cycle everywhere at the moment and the bike is pure enjoyment, no longer a commuting tool because it's too expensive.

Only trouble is, got stranded on the usk road near chepstow on sunday waiting for the AA cos my tyre got slashed on the way there. (half inch rip) The AA man plugged it temporarily so it's defo new tyre needed. That's another £100 coming out my account. Bike is sat in my garage feeling sorry for it self while i'm waiting to get a tyre for it.

Life's a b*tch

Tory party are as bad! Cameron is a nonce. But ANYTHING to get rid of Jacqui Smith (what a pretentious spelling too;))

Resources are limited, I believe we've been getting away with too much for too long. Prices are up for good :( Public spending and publiuc sector jobs look set for the future too.

I'm looking forward to the revolution! ;)

I was talking with someone else about the petrol price thing the other day. I think for it to come down there would have to be less demand, right. I theorised that much of the demand these days (and this has certainly helped ramp up the price as Opec haven't increased production in line) comes from China as they are expanding rapidly. However I think the economy in China is a lot lower than ours, yet oil is still priced the same as for us (in USD) - so I figure that at some point, China will get hit by oil being too expensive, and that will be before "the west" gets hit in that way. Btw - for expensive, read 'prohibitively expensive' - i.e. expensive enough to stop using it (as opposed to now, where mostly we're just moaning but still using it).

Never had a chance to investigate this further but would be interested if anyone else has any thoughts on it...obviously a very prominent topic at the moment.

Btw, to the OP - if you want a cheaper RR, why not get an import? Taz Motorcycles, etc?

Cameron is pathetic since he became a family man, I think its a front though and deep down he is still brutal :D

I'm looking forward to the revolution!

Indeed and it will happen in our lifetime thankfully, our oppurtunity to be part of a stage in history lol

US imports are very cheap at the moment, partly due to the weak dollar.

There are a couple of dealers around the country that are importing US bikes and knocking them out for a good couple of grand less than UK list price. If you don't mind having a non official UK bike then it might be worth checking them out.

Two i can think of off the top of my head are Taz (http://www.tazmotorcycles.co.uk/) and KJM Superbikes (http://www.kjm.net/bike_detail.php?bikeID=45). But i'm sure there are others.
