ibuprofen and alcohol

My sholder is still giving me jip, and Im going out tonight (student style) is it ok to take it? I tend to get stomach aches when I have ibuprofen on an empty stomach, so I think its prob not worth taking it.I might just deep heat my sholder instead.
The alcohol will nub the pain anyway.

Any advice?

Strange my shoulder is hurting big at the moment, only 5 years since I did no damage to it with a so called soft tissue injury. Been hitting the Tramadol. Alcohol has been limited to afternoon Pimms and evening Port.

Side effect. :- can't poo

Aspirin and ibuprofen
Aspirin and ibuprofen are both available without a prescription from pharmacies. It is normally safe to drink alcohol when taking ibuprofen or aspirin, as long as you drink within the recommended amount (between 3-4 units daily for men, and between 2-3 units daily for women).
If you drink more than this while taking aspirin or ibuprofen, the alcohol can irritate your stomach (http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/glossary/#Stomach), and may increase your likelihood of experiencing side effects, such as bleeding in your stomach (http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/glossary/#Stomach) or intestines. Heavy, or long-term, daily use of aspirin may cause stomach (http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/glossary/#Stomach)inflammation (http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/glossary/#Inflammation), or ulceration, and this can be made worse by drinking too much alcohol. Aspirin can also increase the effects of alcohol.

Saying all of that though, I've done it in the past and had no side effects. My solution......drink loads, and pop a few with a couple of pints of water before you go to sleep......should help with the hangover too :D

ok, drink lots seems to be the message that im getting! And I will not let the faithfull down!!

Ive put some ibuprofen gel on my sholder, that seems like the compromise! :)

when taking any non steroidal anti inflamatory drug you should always have eaten before taking as they inhibit the production of enzymes in your gut and cause damage to it unless it has food inside. As for drinking, never stopped me. Just have the keebab before for a change!!!

Drinking - I don't know for sure, the doctors over here say 'You're english so you can drink but we wouldn't say that to a local' when I ask about drinking with pills :)

However... Don't take it without eating. The tablets can cause ulcers etc if taken on an empty stomach, and it's not surprising that you get aches when taking it like that...

I had the opposite, tramadol n cider....japanese flag was the outcome :(
