There are a number of people who produce their own videos on here. What software do you use?

Primarily, I am interested in adding music and adjusting levels throughout the footage. It would be nice if it was fairly straight forward as it wont be me using it!

Ulead Video Studio.

I downloaded it via torrent* so had no manuals, and it's easier to use than a rubber mallet!

*I may of since paid for it at full RRP from Ulead directly....

I got a bit of software called Pinnacle Studio, seems alright, lots of features and came free with a capture usb job. Bit resource hungry but I guess most video editing will be.

Bloody expensive really, for the price of the kit so they should throw that stuff in free.

Well if you want to be picky, what is? If you have an apple, then it comes as standard along with the computer so you don't need to buy any additional software. If you don't have an apple then you probably don't care as it's no use to you. HTH

Adobe premiere Pro 2.

Tricky to use, and takes many hours sussing out, but once you've learned how to use it, the stuff youcan do is amazing

My Partner Carol uses a Mac and Final Cut Pro, but warns it is expensive.

Hmm, to think I just put Linux on the PC so we can acquire open source software too! :smt068

fc pro for serious amateurs only! iMovie will give us starters all they need!
I think this is coming down to platform choice first, and then software. So, of or apple.
I use both by the way but I'm rubbish at computers so have to swap between the two depending on what is easiest at the time and the job at hand

Had Ulead Media Studio until they've stopped making updates to it and god knows why because it is a far better product then video studio. Ulead VideoStudio is much cheaper for what it can offer though (cost around $100).
I currently use Sony Vegas Pro with Architect Pro 5 and found it to be equally flexible compared with Media Studio, downside is that it ain't cheap.
