Well as many of you probably know I went grass tracking on the bike and have managed to grate some of the nice paintwork off of my bike :(

Im wondering if I can make it look reasonable without going to a shop? I need to just make it look ok for now... so whats the best way to do it?

I think I will eventually be getting it done properly when I get a chance, so anyidea where there is a good bike spray shop somewhere near Sheffield/Yorkshire?

Doh just found your hidden posts in the other thread, at least you seem to have pretty much fixed it up already?! What do you want to do to make it reasonable? You can do some temporary DIY spraying if that's what you mean...can't think of anything else. Me, I'd just spray it in primer and basically get it ready for the shop, so they have less work to do = less time away, less money spent.

Btw not sure if those are stickers on the upper/side fairings but you probs want to remove those if they are, before carrying on, they will want to be off.

They arnt stickers no... or if they were they were lackered on so arnt removable without some sand paper. I think the fairing will need all the pain removing before I can get a shop to do it right, its very thick in places. The problem I have is the bike is my only transport so I need it to be usable while I sort it :(

For now yes I want it to just be looking at least ok, so will be sprays I suppose.

Also Im not sure what to do with the colour... I think it looks ok in the silver but im not sure if something else may look better.

Im thining of changing it to the same setup as on the bike in post 12 (http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99893). feel free to have a look through those and see what you think I should paint it like.

Yes they are lackered on stickers Gr33k, something the Japanese do not do.

I like that.... overall a professional finish will probably be better if this is going to be your first attempt.

Except on their tanks... ;)

That black lower fairing looks OK, there doesn't seem to be much of a fairing down there anyway so it kinda makes it look like it's meant to be there more (when it stands out, it stands out as being a bit small).

You should be able to remove the paint and stickers and still keep the bike usable, right? Just do it a piece at a time, etc.

Ive got the belly pan on mine so it looks a little more substantial. Ill need to give that a spray as well so that could be my guiness pig for the spraying of the black. :)

Ill have to use the crappy looking fairing lower thing that has while I do it. Shouldnt be hard.

How would it look with the bellypan painted the same as the top half with the centre section black?

Interesting question! I dont know... Someone good at photoshop want to have a go? Black middle section (the bit with the fans in) and silver belly pan. Then maybe if you could black from middle down?

Probably not have any takers :(

Ill have to look into getting some stickers too I guess since I grated two/3 of them. Sigh.

there's a bodyshop over from me at work - the owner is a bit of a **** but he does a good job. I'll ask him if he does bikes at all (since he's got a ninja himself) and see what he says :)

Rode the bike for the first time since the accident. All feels ok, appart from the damn rear shocker... I must have got used to it or something I dont know becasue it felt AWFUL!!! :( Felt like there was no/very little copmpression dampening... got on the power at all and it just sank at the back.

2 weeks till I get the penske, thanks to a screw up in ordering :(

Hmmm. Odd, dont think I altered it. The rear shock on the falco is screwed though tbh. Its crap :( Ill have another go tomorrow and see what tinkering I can do to make it feel better.

Going to give them a ring on Monday, wanted to make sure everything else was sorted first. So ill let you know what the cost will be mate :D
