If the weather is like last year I will probably sit it out or stay in a hotel. I hate rain and camping in the rain is even worse, I've done enough of it to last several life times. That said, the rideout last year was one of the best I've been on. A nice steady pace, no sillyness and some amazing roads and ended up being an lovely sunny day. If you've not been before I highly recommend it, despite the weather the organisation was brilliant!

I was a virgin to .org rideouts until AR08. Quite possibly the single greatest day's riding of my life so far....and I nearly didn't go on the rideout, but Jester and Spiderman pursauded me over breakfast on the morning of the ride.

Oh, the alpinestarhero's will be there, on the faithfull yellow curvy. This time with a bigger tent...not that the tent we had this year was too small, but it wasn't so good for keeping tidy when one is wearing wet kit :lol:

And next year we should be able to overtake cars with much aplomb :smt003

Na, don't be nervous. I was restricted, 2 up and with a topbox full of laptop (for some of the rideout). Theres no pressure to ride fast, just go at the pace you feel comfy...for example, there was a white van which I wasn't prepared to overtake (not enough oomph) so I just moved over and let everyone else through. I didn't get any backlash for being slow and stuff.

TBH towards the front by the leader is the slowest bit. The further toward the back, the faster it appears to get? We had almost 100 bikes on the rideout this year, was flippin' fantastic, we had people out of their homes through some of the villages :smt003:smt035

Good to see everyone getting excited.

Plans are afoot to get the ball rolling, but nobody is sure where it is & when as of yet.

And for the newbies don't worry about the ride, it will not be fast, in fact it is quite a slow sedate pace.

You shall mostly be expected to stand in a field (or pub if it is wet), get drunk & enjoy yourself. A tent is required, unless you intend to stay in a b&b or get lucky.

If hovis gets near some playground equipment go get your camera and prepare yourself for a moment of comedic genius.

And Bear doesn't bite, everything else is fair game though...

As you are now aware, the actual ride out is secondary to the event itself. In all honesty, it doesn't really matter that much if everyone did a loop around the M25. The bit that matters the most is the socialising. THIS is what makes the AR. The ride is really just the 'excuse' for the whole weekend.

For all of you, don't get hooked up on the idea the ride is the event. It isn't. The ride is now just a small part of it.

You can all have your flame and say in due course. Out of a cast of literally a few, I will be the one moderating the section when it opens shortly. :wink: There will be plenty of discussion topics raised where you can have your input. :)

I really dont think the area matters TBH we're prepared to travel to get there, it really is worth making the effort to get to these weekends, 06 was fantastic and I'm sure I would have enjoyed 08 if I wasnt so worried about making it happen.
