I searched but couldn't find anything similar so sorry if this is old news....although it's an article from today's news :) A mate linked me to this, pretty interesting, will they be a hit do you think?

World's fastest all electric bike (http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2008/nov/27/alternativeenergy-travelandtransport)

The TTX01's design also allows for a small electric motor to be attached to the front wheel. This would make the bike safer to drive since, if the back wheel lost some of its grip on the road, the bike's onboard computer could feed power to the front motor to keep the bike moving.Computers + bikes = #-o Computers are bad enough in cars, but bikes as well?

it's early days to say that the TTX01 is going to open the floodgates for electric power, as there's still life in the internal combustion engine yetI can't imagine tinkering with an electric bike will be anywhere near as fun (in my case watching and providing occasional assistance in the tinkering) !!!

After completing its preliminary tests next month, the TTX01 will start a battery-powered European tour via Portugal, France, Germany and Italy before coming back to the Isle of Man in time for the zero-emission TT race next June. That sounds interesting, hope it doesn't rain though, doubt it'll like that!

"It hardly makes any noise,"That's just crap, not interested anymore, pffffffffffft :D

Well it definately isnt the fastest electirc bike in the world. The fastest at the moment that i know of is the "Killacycle" electric dragbike. 7.8 second 1/4 miles at 174mph, difinitively quicker than the ttxgp bike.

Here's the website: http://www.killacycle.com (http://www.killacycle.com/)

We're trying to develop and electrice bike for the ttxgp here at kingston uni, its quite a task to make one to do a 36 mile lap!

"Peak power of a 600cc racing bike" (with pic of an SRAD750 ... jog on... ******s ... though that swingarm would look well tasty on a GSXR750 slabby... hummm)
So, with what 120bhp why only 125mph eh?

So it's going to make 85bhp, still not too efficient considering the 70ish of the SV can take it up to nearly 130.

Annnnd the batteries will probably still only give about a tenth of the energy density of petrol, so it'll be flat if you ride it properly for 10 miles.

And it's from the guardian, I feel besmirched by reading the article. Trust them to be on about a gay electric bike. God damn pinko commies.

I knew you'd say that, I was going to mention something about not being judged for linking you to it, I think you know who it was that did :p

"On a full charge and at a moderate speed, the bike's 75kg battery will currently allow it to travel around 50 miles. Using a standard 13-amp electric socket, the battery can be recharged in under two hours."

I don't care how fast it might be, that is seriously going to impact your average speed :)

Even to run 50 miles ...
A great deal of that space under the plastics has to be batteries.
I'd be worried a crash on a TT course might end up an acid bath for the rider.
