Hi Guys,

Need some urgent help, got an engine for my blown SV. Thought it was a carb model engine I got but it looks to be a injector model. I need to figure out what it is, since I think injector and seller says it's carb.

Is it a simple case of stating if it's silver heads on the engine it's injector and if it's black it's carb?

Anyone have any idea on the quickest way to find out?

:( Having serious issues with installing this engine on the bike (not me but the mechanic that is)

No Curvy's came in silver towards the end....

This is a Pointy engine, it has the PAIR system fitted (black objects at the top of each cylinder)...

The engine number is a give away too....

Curvy engine...

my engine number is:

P503 171255

All I can figure out is that it's a P = 600 CC and four stroke twin (5) and 03 is year.

The engine has black engine and silver heads ...

What problems is your mechanic having then?

Is it just my eyes, or does that pic say K3 on the cover.. is it possible to fit earlier covers to the later engine?... hmm, but that wouldn't explain the lack of PAIR system....

meh, ignore me, I know nothing

I believe so.

K1-K2 had black alternator + clutch cover. K3 got silver. No pair system, so looks like those are curvy cam covers.

99-2000 were black, then they changed to silver in 2001

so its either 2001 or 2002

 its a 03 the engine casing number says so according to the Suzuki table.

Thanks again for the curvy answer. The so called "running order" engine wasn't really in running order, the cam was 180 degrees wrong on the rear cylinder made a lot of noise, thought it might have been damaged :(. Turns out it's not all set and done 6+ hours extra spent on the fecking thing. running smooth and no leeks! [-o<

'01 or '02 engine with '99 or '00 covers, the cylinder head and assembly are definitely from a Curvy.

He's got a Curvy according to his previous thread in the wanted section a while back.

All the above is true, but the most obvious difference between curvy and pointy engines is the clutch cover - no external plastic section on FI motors.

Many of the 2002 Curvy's had the one piece clutch cover, the biggest give away is there being no PAIR system.
