Default Engine identification?

Hi Guys,

Need some urgent help, got an engine for my blown SV. Thought it was a carb model engine I got but it looks to be a injector model. I need to figure out what it is, since I think injector and seller says it's carb.

Is it a simple case of stating if it's silver heads on the engine it's injector and if it's black it's carb?

Anyone have any idea on the quickest way to find out?

Having serious issues with installing this engine on the bike (not me but the mechanic that is)

No Curvy's came in silver towards the end....

This is a Pointy engine, it has the PAIR system fitted (black objects at the top of each cylinder)...

The engine number is a give away too....

Curvy engine...

my engine number is:

P503 171255

All I can figure out is that it's a P = 600 CC and four stroke twin (5) and 03 is year.

The engine has black engine and silver heads ...

Is it just my eyes, or does that pic say K3 on the cover.. is it possible to fit earlier covers to the later engine?... hmm, but that wouldn't explain the lack of PAIR system....
