How much a month to properly look after 'em? I'm living with my parents now but if I move out after paying for my car and bike I'm left with enough for me to survive on and that's about it.

I am considering getting a couple of rankins dragons when my one outgrows his tank as they can live together and only grow up to 12 inches which is half the size of the beardies
Have heard this too, we are already preparing (sadly) for the fact that the smaller one may not survive as she is eating so little, but if so then this maybe something we look into as would be good to still have 2.

Have already posted and the response got back was that the habitat seems good and we are trying the right things, but, they think it maybe that they are just not happy living together. Don't tend to bathe, as they have a constant supply that they tend to get into, but do mist them quiet a bit with a spray bottle and they love that.

You could always try and take her out and feed her in a little tub,
Have tried that, but she just sits there with the crickets all walking over her and has this look on her face that says "Listen, dumb dad, shove me back in the tank as I aint interested!!!!"

I'm living with my parents now but if I move out after paying for my car and bike I'm left with enough for me to survive on and that's about it.Hmm well tis the food mostly. Ours goes through a tin - 2 tins of food a day with a few handfuls of mixer chucked in. If you're wanting one from a pup then everything is expensive, vaccinations/toys/accessories etc. We've had our for about 5 years now but he was a rescue dog, ex-police dog, just didn't make the grade I think hehe.
Him with a teddy he nicked, after removing an eye and spitting it out it was quickly removed. He's a very much search and destroy dog, any toy he gets hold of is just ripped to shreds LOL

Decent food for my two cocker spaniels is £40 a month, then vaccinations (£60 a year) then pet insurance £20 a month.
Remember also a bigger dog costs more to medicate- a course of antibiotics for a GSD can be £30, as opposed to £12 or so for a cocker. Worming too, a GSD will need 2 tablets at £3.99 each, every three months, smaller dogs, one tablet.
If you do get one get pet insurance- I work in a vets and for a simple RTA with xrays, overnight care, etc you can be looking at over £1000.

Oooh let me see now. Any post of mine about my pets has to be started with my old boy - gone just over a year now, but most definately not forgotton.
Kodo. 31/5/95 - 23/01/08.
Best. Dog. Ever.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/spazmutt/Kodo/Kodo.jpg
My current beasties are Kodo's erstwhile sucessor, Spider.
Very aptly named as he is constantly nests behind the sofa or under my bed, climbs everything and scuttles about... usually thieving socks.
This was when he was about 10 weeks old:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/spazmutt/Spider/P100054820.jpg
Strangely don't have any recent ones of him as they were all on my phone - which he almost successfully ate!
Finally this is the big dog, Leo.
Yes, I know he's a horse ;) but when I first got him he was a crippled, underweight reject and was likely to be nothing more than a glorious drain on my finances and useful for nothing other than being just a big pet.
But the boy's come good, begun jumping, sound as a pound and make's me a very pround owner every damn day.

always ***** up my ears when you mention leo, what had he been doing to win a rosette? He looks so damn fine in the last pic, I remember seeing the one in the middle when you posted about him last. I sometimes believe a horse will beat almost anything to repay the kindness that someone pays them after going through what he has. Well done 8)

K, gorgeous looking horse, a credit to you. Kodo was lovely, bless him.
always ***** up my ears when you mention leo, what had he been doing to win a rosette?
There was an unaffiliated show-jumping event at Uni (where he's kept) and the first class was a clear round one (for the uninitiated, no 'placings' but you get a rosette if you don't knock any fences down - great for kids, first-timers and young horses) but it was fancy dress , hence the ribbons.
It was very amusing - he was the biggest horse there by far 17 1hh - and the jumps were only 1'3". He could step over them bless him...
... but it was his first time jumping a course and they were all covered in tinsel n stuff - very scary obviously.:p
He actually managed to trot normally round the first bit, mainly as we could start off going round the entire outside of the arena to let him get up speed, but on a 'normal' turn he lost his rhythm and reverted to pacing for the middle few jumps then managed to get back into a trot.
But despite all that he jumped properly, wasn't lazy and got his rosette.
The funniest thing was that the jumps were left up for the following week during the holidays - so we went back in, took a couple of laps of the school to get up speed into a canter (he's still working on it and needs a lot of room, the racehorse in him still insists that every gait must be fast!) and then just pointed him at the first one and jumped the lot in any random order that didn't involved too many sharp turns...
... he went over the lot.
At 3' +.
Even the spread!
So - if we can slow the gears down, work on his rhythm, balance and, of course, cornering :p we may well enter a proper little class at the next show in April!
Oh man - I could ramble on about him all day. ;)

Islas collar looks too tight!
Islas collar looks too tight!
It's just her cut and the depth of field of the photo... when she was that age we could easily pull that collar over her head if we wanted to!
She's put on a few pounds since she moved in with the grandparents
That collar could go over her head? :o
That collar could go over her head? :o
Oh yeah, easily. She has a lot of hair and not much underneath... except a big soft heart that is.
It was actually a bit of a struggle to find a collar that would go small enough for her neck... apart from cat collars!
...proud parent stuff....
But will he fetch a stick...! Next project, methinks.
Left my beardie alone in the lounge for 2 mins, come back and found him like this. :)

You left it alone...... we would never find ours again for them hiding! They are buggers for it!

yeah i know what you mean, he escaped once, and i found him behind the wardrobe asleep.
I leave watching telly somtimes, he just sits there and wathces it, or runs around on the floor licking stuff and then steals the xbox controller. :)
Ours are still small another that i can get them out and sit them on my chest or shoulders while i walk around...... they get to see a lot of things and as long as i'm moving they keep still. But once you stop they are moving trying to get off to run across the floor.
I love them, i really do. I love watching them and how stupid they can be sometimes.
EDIT: by the way he is a lovely colour a lot of yellow/ orange
Yeah i know what you mean they really cool animals. All my one seems to want to do is look at and lick everything.
Thanks, we picked from a tank of about 30 and he was the only orange one.

He is a pedigree whippet.
We got him on Saturday and haven't slept since. He is a veritable poop-factory.

I'm a big dog lover :D . I've got a 18 month old German Shepherd bitch and a 13 year old Yorkshire Terrier. May sound silly but they're truely some of my best mates! Spend loads of time with 'em and they're just so funny .

thats a nice dog mate,
Cheers, she's a lovely dog. Soft as a brush. Surprisingly, the little Yorkie Max is actually in charge of our household :smt082. He's a grumpy little git!
BTW, nice beardie you have there. I really want to get one of those in the future.
