Liz has an XR1000, shes had it three years and the fit now is as good as the day we bought it. Can be a bit noisy due to the extra vents but IMHO a really good lid, If it fits your head at that price I'df snap it up.

Cheers Fizz....my HJC FG15 was quite noisy with it's vents and my mate has just bought one of these XR1000s and the vents look lower profile than the HJC so might be quieter...was a real problem after a few months with the HJC
I've just bought the exact same helmet. I was looking at it in a shop one day and it was £379 i believe, looked online the next day and couldn't believe I found it at £199 somewhere else, at that price i had to snap it up.
I find it ultra comfortable and light, with regards to the vents, I don't find it too noisy at all, and certainly nowhere near as noisy as my previous HJC i had.
At £199 if it fits your head correctly, you can't go wrong i think!

I have an XR1000, kagayama paint. does work well with glassses, like CH00 says, and is mega comfy for my head. I would recommend it to anyone who felt comfortable in it, lots of features (visors, pinlocks etc), and good warmth ventilation. little cold in winter, but what isnt.......

Nice helmet but stupidly noisy.
Get over 100 and its like someone is screaming in your ear if you dont have ear plugs in.
Only seems to be a poble on the left hand side. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the mechanisms and locks being on that side.
Got one, its well made, very light, good vents, stable at speed, love it! :thumright:
I have one. It still fits perfectly, unlike my Arai which seemed to fit fine at first and then loosened up too much. Well worth the money.

Just got one after having a Raid II for a few years and I'm very happy with the XR - it feels a bit lighter than the Raid II and seems a bit more stable at speed (my head doesnt feel like it's being buffeted about as much, if that makes sense?).
Overall a cracking lid for £200 if you have a Shoei-shaped head.

Apparently I have a small Shoei shaped head, as opposed to a medium HJC shaped head.
I really like the new HJC IS16 as it has an integral sun visor that flicks up/down so you can pretend it's like a HUD off Airwolf!...and it's only £130.
Anyway, the Shoei fits perfectly, nice and tight, but not too tight.
Looks like I'll be going drastic with the plastic and getting one!
Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Used my new XR1000 lid for the 1st time today.
Pro's - light, pinlock works really well, £380 quids worth of lid for £200, Autocom earphones fit in very well/better than my HJC.
Con's - doesn't feel like it covers as much of my chin or the back of my head as my old HJC, doesn't have a breath mask built in like my old HJC and doesn't have a chin cover to keep your chin warm...like my old HJC.
I wish pinlock would do a hyperoptik insert, I loved that in my old lid. Also, the HJC IS-16 I was going to get had integral sunnies which I think would be good.
The Shoei has very different aerodynamic characteristics than the HJC which is very noticeable when doing lifesavers. Took me by surprise at first how much my head was moving when I turned it.
The chin bar is shallower than on the HJC which does make you feel a little more exposed, but allows easier lifesavers as it doesn't hit the shoulders on the jacket when turning round.
It seems shorter at the back of the head, presumably to suit a more aggressive/head down on tank posture?

the only thing i can say is i had a xr1000 cryptic for 6 months , but saved my head when i came off the bike (pitty they dont doo them for the other bones in ur body lol),the fit was well comfy and nice and snug plenty of vents to play with ,but make sure you get a good fitting lid mate not worth buying just for the looks,:smt017 buy it because it feels right for you !!!!

Yeah...bought it because it was a nice snug fit and is a better material - kevlar weave as opposed to thermoplastic on the HJC (or so I believe).

I've got one. Compared to the caberg it replaces it's like sticking your head in a mercedes.
Noise doesn't bother me, the stability is excellent and with the vents open it's nice and cool. Can't fault the pinlock. The only time it's fogged is in extreme cold where there was serious levels of ice forming on the outside of the visor!
