ok my insurance is up on thursday

I have a great quote from bennetts for £132.07 and from dial direct for £128 !.

yes its cos I am old.. !

if I add legal cover and leather and helmet cover and personal accident cover it goes to £210 and £206 respectively..

1. have you heard of dial direct.
2 should I go with the addidtiions as £200 is a good price anyway .

are Bennetts Ok .. I have heard bad stories and good, cos maybe I thinkin bennetts are bike specific.. .,

or should I just go for the £132 basic cover and spend the differnce on beer??

You won't know how good or bad they are until you claim mate and touchwood you won't have to. I'm with Bennetts now cos of price, worst experience I had was with Carole Nash (no fault claim took ages to finish). I always go by lowest price (depending on excess etc) with the view that as long as I don't claim their service won't be an issue.

Have you tried Footman James, Quiff?

You get full UK and European breakdown and recovery thrown in. Worth a few quid a year.

Oh and never heard of direct dial, but if their price is good and excess etc were acceptable I'd go with them cos I ain't fussy for reasons in above post :D

But only worthwhile if you ain't got a car with separate break down cover which you could use for your bike.

When I had my no fault off I used a bike specific solicitors I found off here to deal with my 3rd party claim rather than the insurance co's chosen solicitor. Best decision I made, didn't cost a penny and got personal injury, bike repairs, clothing etc compensation and the guy dealing with the claim was sound.

Dial direct are a sister company/part of AA insurance. Not sure what they're like though.

50K of legal cover costs if needed and £5000 up to of cover if I injured in an accident that is my fault.. if I add the two on.

but then like Uki says you dont know the small print ect and if they worth it.

I may get leathers n helmet cover seperate for £20 !! a year but then its easier to jsut add it on here.. and done for a year- . doesnt stipulate any excess on helmet and leather cover? Imay have to call them tommorow to confirm

Paul - this ays it covers you for a "fault off" for any personal injury..

I just wonder if false economy is the way forward or if I am throwing dod money away or being foolhardy..

(and I at mine now paul not in the shed ! miracle )

I say it every time, check if you can cover your helmet and leathers as sports equipment on your household cover. Mine was (Direct Line) when I had my off. Might save you a few quid.

Also try A-quote, have been very competitive for me. The underwriter is Norwich Union so were good when I had to make a claim.

Could be worthwhile then if covers you when at fault. I personally buy inusrance cos it is a neccesity with a view that I don't plan on claiming, so the less the better for me. Different for different people though innit :D

I didnt say they were the cheapest.

When I had the incident with the SV they were VERY good, sorting out the bike bing picked up, the hire bike, getting things moving with NIG etc.

I have NO complaints about them at all, which appears to be pretty rare when dealing with insurance companies.

I thought bennets wouldn't touch bikes with mods.

I use A quote and they were excellent, good recovery package. AA is a waste of time as they will not recover after an off.

Did a test using bikeinsurer the other day and again good price but gets a bit expensive when you bolt on extras

They do, they did with me

Errr. I am quite sure you said you wanted insurance that will able you to ride other bikes. I think you will find Bennetts do not insure anyone to ride other motorcycles. One of the reasons they can quote so cheap.

I've just taken out a policy with dial direct, they seem ok and offer eveything all the other companies do, but as everyone else says you don't know what there like until you need to make a claim! (underwritten by equity red star i think?)
