well guys i think soneone is tring real hard to send me and mr dp a message, as some of you may know i have recently baught a new naked sv, well my devoted husband went to pick it up from jock land today for me and after owning it for less than an hour a bloke in a jeep took him out and has written off the bike it ended up wedged under car:smt089, i havent even seen it yet but iam told it is not at all salvagble. dave is ok and his gear worked a treat keeping him relitivley in one peice.
at this moment in time he is on his way back home with what is left of my new bike in the recovery van(i am so glad i got recovery on the insurance this morning).
why does this keep happening we arent that bad to deservethis amount of bad luck.
to top it all off i have just walked in to a letter from the dvla wanting my liscence early to do medical checks etc..so i will have to put off doing my test till they say everything is ok and give it me back....today is a very BAD DAY:nomore:

Bikes can be replaced, finding decent bikers is more difficult. So you're getting the right one back. :)

Hopefully the jeep insurance will be buying your replacement bike.

Really sorry for you and to hear all of your bad luck... hope things improve for you real soon.

And in answer to your question your bad luck ended today.... this bad luck has been following you for ten years but today things changed and luck was finally on your side. Your bike is in many pieces but you`ve still got your man in one piece so take some comfort from that x

suppossidly he admitted liability to the plod (think he thought fess up dont get hit with a dangerous driving charge) and plod said to me it seemed pretty cut and dry, me on main road him pulling out of juction, but things always change by the time insurance gets involved so i aint holding my breath

Sorry to hear about the off fella. GWS. I've not had any bad offs (touches wood - f'narr) and I still really enjoy my riding, but I've been having thoughts over the last week about binning the bike off and getting a Caterham or an Elise for shítz and giggles. Just hearing too many "bad" stories and wondering if the risks are worth it.

No Way! That must be some sort of record. An SV with less than 100 miles written off!!

Dave, get well soon mate.

plowsie
12-05-09, 07:24 AM
Main reason I have stopped riding on the road is that I feel my riding has gotten to a point where I am unnecessarily putting myself and others in danger. The peaks rideout was the last real fun I had on a bike. I feel I need to always prove something to myself out there. Hence getting back into cycling, and getting myself a project that needs a rebuild :) that shall be on track probs next year. I will enjoyably spend many-a winter saturdays/sundays doing what needs doing :)

It doesn't work, biking is like herpes, once you catch the bug, it is in your blood for life. I gave up for 20 years, but eventually the worm in my head got its way

Get a track bike! You then have the option to ride still, only on certain days.

I do already miss the roads I used to haunt. But would I rather risk serious injury for a bit of fun? Nar. I know like people say, you can always slow down, there's no fun in that though.

Just spotted this, glad you are in one piece

At least it wasn't yours after you've done all the work on it ;)

If you want to get it on the road, why not donate parts from yours?
You know I have a collection and if funds don't allow then we can come to some arrangement.

(I have a spare rad but will need some botching, also a set of curvy S clocks/subframe etc..I'm sure we could figure something out to at least get it up and running if needed. tbh you've more idea of what's in my garage than I have.)

So I'm never playing cards against you or TWL your both too lucky for my liking ;)
