up to Hawes.. nice run up there via Burnley and meet a few others - Lucky P made it in an hour after having new tyre fitted- good riding Mike. !

here at Hawes we bumped in to Gracie and Orose and Dave numbers so they joined us on the way up..

up to hartside to meet Puny and Amarko but we were well late- over an hour- so they had to set off ahead of us.. I was telling mandy how nice the views are up there and we were met with this !

we were in the "lodge" right at the top of the hill so we didnt even hear any of the "antics" . apologies for friday night , but we were pooped and by time got petrol and chippy and breakfast vitals from the green welly we were pooped.. so went bed-
nice accomodation though .. own shower and loo and telly were a odsend..

must admit my riding and my bike just loooved those very open A roads. I dont like the tighter bends and smaller ones.. (yea ones requiring more skill).. so dont think applecross woulda appealed to me.. would still like to do it sometime though..


but these roads were brill.. really could open up and enjoy the Rythmn..


the castle on way in to Skye- heard a piper here playing amazing grace- real scottish defining moment that .. loved it- . made me realise that yea - we are in another country now-

anyway we got to Broadford and thought it wasnt scenic enough so decided to push for Portree- glad we did.. so picturesque there eh..

stopped in broadford for petrol.. mand went pay - i pulled round the corner.. got off biek had a mars bar- she came back .. passed em a bottle of water- I drank some- she finished it off. I said ta that was nice why didnt you buy pepsi though .. she said I didnt buy it I thought it was yours here on the floor.! agghhhhhhhhh she had picked up a half drunk bottle of water off the kreb thinking I had put it there !..OMG- I was nearly sick .!

walked right round harbour top.. theres a high footpath- real nice.. went on the "lump" local beauty spot- it really really is worth a visit guys.. go see for yourself. loads of rabbits up there too.. dead good..

next mornin off to Loch ness- via loads of cute roads and stuff. lots of little stop offs etc..all up the west side of the loch nice roads- shame about the coaches.! then stopped to view another nice castle.. froma distance as it was £8 to get in !

as we were at he castel on loch ness.. a couple of Tornados flew over- WOW !! what a sound what a ight- .. sadly- a few days later one crashed near Loch lomond west side- I wonder if it was one of the ones we saw..

up to inverness for find a cycle shop and purchase me some cycling padded luycra shorts- oh waht a diff they make and only £20.. then down the east side b road of Loch ness to Fort Augusta at the bottom.. callin in at Foyers falls on the way-- this was an impromtu thing- saw the sign.. went- .

Mandy questioned if there would be any "falls" cos of the dry weather- me quoted my geography .. and off the hills. meliting snow.. water from days ago reaches here... there will be loads..

down to Fort Augusta at bottom of the Loch ness. and Mand loved it there- it was a hot hot day so we decided at 5pm to stay the night -- booked in nice hotel. lots of pubs there and the loch to look at- like big big staircase locks.. all way down the hill there- taking th eboats fromthe caledonian canal to loch ness- just sat and watched them go past and the lock open and close- and the road is closed off and becomes a swing bridge- .. its good..

we were here at loch katrine thingy at about 6 and made moffat for 8. which wasnt bad.

then we popped down to far sawrey and for £1.50 got the vehicle ferry across windermere- ace !! real ace - nice way to end he break.. didnt even know that ferry was there.. saved loads of time.. and then its just a small run to kenda and that roundabout with the pub on and home down the M way..

Pete, miscalculated on 'the slab' on the way home to! After sitting at *cough* mph for 180 miles the light started flashing but next services were after my turning! Doh! I done that before as well on M6 south. Filled at 210 miles on the odo and put in 18 litres. That means I had over half a gallon left or around 25 miles. My bike truly is a tourer (sorry to those that saw my tail pipes). :cool:

I don't think so, this is Ardvreck Castle and I can find no reference to it in relation to the Highlander films. They did use Eilean Donan Castle in the film though, the one we all took photos of :D

Its the first time anyone has got Matt on vid, and the first thing I noticed is that he still stops and puts the opposite foot down at lights. Still thinks he has the dodgy hip.
It seems I held a lot of folk up there a bit more than caravans:-ddBy the time I'd got to the lights at the end, the roadwrok crew had confused looks on their faces!
