View Full Version : Pre load adjustment
Hi everyone with this been my first bike i don't have any experience with adjusting the pre load on the suspension anyone got a good base setting i could start with then move on from there, i'm 6ft and just under 14st if thats any help.
About the same as me weight wise. I just wound it in one notch at a time;
front first, then rode for a bit to get used to it,
wound rear in a notch and rode again.
Am now two notches in from stock settings front and rear and am happy with it for daily commuting, and the odd twisty fun ;)
I'd suggest one notch at a time and see how you go for your riding style etc.
Have fun.
Remember to only change one thing at a time ;-)
Can't remember the exact stock settings, but it's about middle of adjustment for each.
Stock 3 on front, Rear i believe is 4 on S model and 3 on naked model.
i used this
http://www.gostar-racing.com/information/motorcycle_suspension_set-up.htm
but only using the preload guides obviously, only done front so far, cables ties on both forks (i did any way can only do 1 if you want), lose but not too loose just so no damage caused to stanchons or seals, add/remove a click each time, go for ride, messure the distance from bottom of cable tie to bottom yoke, each time you add remove a click, reset the cable tie, then once there is 10mm between cable tie and yoke, :thumright: perect front preload set up, then set up rear sag (which i havent done yet, you may also find that then front needs messing with again) all explained in that guide.
