View Full Version : Give the rabbit a name
After events at work today, I'm providing a temporary home for a rather cute white/black rabbit, gender uncertain...... can you help me name it?
If I tell the story of how he came to hitch a lift home with me then it might help:
Colleagues went to a flat to seize, under warrant, the TV, hifi, radios, etc from a second-floor flat in north-east Cardiff. They took a couple of burly coppers with 'em as usual. However, the resident was a known local nut-job who, last lime the coppers went to arrest him, lept out of one of the flat windows (2nd floor remember!) and ran off. The eventually got him cornered, at which point he dropped his keks, reached round behind him a lobbed a handful of steaming fresh poo at them
Same coppers turned up today, understandably not looking forward to this latest encounter with the turd-flinger. The gentleman wouldn't open up so door was kicked in. The guy starts lobbing an array of strange (for a second floor flat) objects at them - garden hoe, centrifugal fan, budgie cage, etc. Riot police arrive, dispense the CS-gas and the gentleman is whisked off to the cells. Coppers depart leaving my colleagues to take the stuff that they came for.
At this point I arrive - yeah, I know, glory hunter!! It's then that we notice the bunny hopping about the flat
Can't leave him/her there as the door is off its hinges, there's a horrible atmosphere from the CS gas and we don't know when/if the gentlemen will be returning - might get sectioned and sent to a mental hospital.
Anyway - name that rabbit :-D

Actually, this is quite a sad story. Can we ask why you were required to break down the door to this man's home? Hope all concerned were OK.

Nothing more than a fairly routine seizure of noise-making equipment (HiFi, etc) under warrant after the guy had failed to comply with a Notice requiring him to stop causing a nuisance to his neighbours.
Guy wouldn't open up so force was used - locksmith was present but police took over when he became aggressive.
Rabbit doing well. Will have to give it back if the guy asks for it, but will check with council's housing dept (it was Council flat) whether of not he's allowed to keep pets before handing it back. I've told the kids that he won't be staying permanently, but..... well, ya never know :-)
He's v cute and v friendly :-D

EDIT: dont click on the link unless you're sexing a rabbit - its rather gross
pick it up and have look at it's undercarriage!
You expect me to post a reply to that? Not a chance ;-)
Update:
The scrote was bailed today after :plod: kept him in clink all weekend.
Arfur goes home tomorrow. Sons-of-Jabba a bit sad :-(
No! Social Services, Childline?
Seriously though what about the RSPCA? Can they confirm the rabbit will be adequately looked after in this man's flat?

Shame the cute bunny has to go back to the nasty man.
I showed the pics of him to my niece and nephew over the weekend expceting them to say the usual "cute/lovely/i want one" type things. Felt such a fool when they both looked and went "oh, right" and ran back out to play at nothing much. D'oh.

Nothing to do with the RSPCA; they will only get involved if there was neglect and, to be fair, whilst the guy might be loopy he's certainly cared for the bunny. It's in good nick, well fed and watered and has a really good temprament.
Facts are facts - it's not mine and I only took it from his flat to make sure it was okay. It's his bunny and if it were mine I'd want it back.
Bye bye Arfur - live long and prosper

Update:
After a lot of fuss, where owner said that he was going to sue us for nicking his rabbit and that he wanted him back, after the thing was shipped from pillar to post because we were away for a couple of days, after he spent two days in the dogs home (part of our empire here at work) and after being brought back into the office today before being returned......
Colleagues turned up with Arfur at the owners flat and he said he didn't want him after all :smt067
Poor little thing has been through the mill this last couple of weeks. so he's coming back home with me today. For keeps :-D
Sons-of-Jabba bawled their eyes out when he left at the weekend. They will be happy again now :-D

Yes, that's probably for the best. You live out there and let bunny have the house to himself and chew through whatever he likes - he deserves it after all that.;)
