View Full Version : Hooooge favour to ask
Good people of the org. One of our members has been seriously let down by someone else with regard to her holiday abroad, and as a consequence she is not at present sunning herself topless on an Ibizan beach and drinking alco-pops til dawn in a beachside club while enjoying the delights of Judge Jules on the decks.
I have had a great idea. This young Scottish, blonde, law-keeping lady has never met anyone from the org, and has never done a long journey on her bike, so I suggested she take a series of shorter ones to build her confidence. Now she has 8 days off work and a desire to meet some folks and do some miles, what say we invite her to stay a night at a different orger's house every night, making it a series of short trips heading south and then back up again, adding up to a long journey that ends up back home, during which she'll meet new people and find out just what the org is all about and how friendly we can all be.
Each host will lay something on in the evening and maybe she can meet other org members along the way.
Opinions and a show of hands from those who'd be willing to play host please

we have a spere room and a couple of beers.
So far we have Preston for the first night, followed by a decent ride to Stafford, then straight down the M6 and M5 to Bristol. Amanada's Bournemouth isn't too far away from there, and I'm in Bedford on the return leg followed by Nelson in Lancs as she gets closer to home.
Only two more offers, chaps and chapesses. One in the London area and another in the Midlands and we've got ourselves a newbie's tour organised.

Not many miles or regular riding under her belt, no experience in anything other than good dry conditions and so a big trip like that on the bike...also so soon after not quite fully getting over a shoulder injury may not be so sensible.
I've said....do it on the bike and stay up north so not so far to go and still closeish to home....or do it in the car and come down here!

I can prolly do it (got rellies in workington so could stop for a brew) would just need to check milage on bike as I'm trading it in.
then hand you over to the next one.

MBK, my suggestion.
I believe DavePreston is trying to make up for lost time and is spending a lot of time on his bike, he's about 2 hours from you - its motorway, but I am sure that he would head North to at least the Border and escort you to his place.
From there, Lozzo's place is 3 or 4 hours away, so that would look like a plan for the Saturday, then on Sunday you could do a flyby of The Ace cafe, spend some time there, before heading West in the direction of Bristol, which is 2 or 3 hours away, maybe someone from the TV crowd would want to come, spend a day at the Ace then escort you to Bristol.
From there, well you have 4 days to get back up North,

I have a couple of grand in the bank, if we can sort out pictures who cares about the bike trip...
PS. Coffee stop here MBK, I'll even escort you to Lozzo's abode (roughly 30 mins away)...Can give the motorway option to his or the easier way from mine that probably gets there quicker. I'm 2 miles from M1 J15.

I might suggest that we meet you at say Penrith and escort you scenic route down to Prestons.
either Kirkstone or Shap to Kendal and then over via Caton, Quernmore.
I would offer a room here, but Preston already has. And as I will be wife/daughterless for the next few weeks. It would only cause sever hassle if the wife found out I had innocently taken in a wandering woman for the night during her absence.
Quick edit/warning
Don't let Preston show you a good time in town, it will only get messy and you will not make your next stop. Unless of course I am there to keep an restraining eye on the proceedings.

Saxo is then gonna pick me up on Sunday, take me to Bristol to the Bray residence, possibly with a coffee stop at Drew n Lily's. Will stay at Bristol for Sunday and Monday night.

The great thing about this place is everyone is willing to meet you and are very friendly, I was scared when I went to AR07, I was worried I would be a billy on my own, I was until I ran over my own foot ;) :lol:
