Happy days!!

I have heard today that I have just been given this to run as a refurbishment project:-

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3594/3557597214_6fdc464802.jpg

The first stage is worth just over 750k and theres 3 stages to it :)

I have always loved working within heritage projects as its something very different from the schools, houses and hospitals I have been involved with for the last few years.

I'm starting with a new company (but the MD is a good friend and knows my work well) as a freelance project manager but when their new offices open in Warwick early next year I will be permanently employed and working from this end of the world.

All the usual trappings, Car + Fuel, Health, Laptop and Blackberry (yuck)

Oh, and I've just doubled my income too:)

Its been a hard year and I have been getting so stressed with the work situation When out of the blue, I'm handed a right Gem :)

Beers are on me guys!

Well done! Getting any new project in the building industry is damned hard these days. And being self-employed is equally hard, especially when all you hear is people complaining about how bad their boss is.

PS Need a property litigation lawyer?

Colnago, bianchi or pinnarello?

Colnago, bianchi or pinnarello?

I wanted a Colnago, to replace my old steel framed one, but I stumbled upon this on EBAY. 6 months old and as new as it came out of the box.

http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/wilier-izoard-chorus-item139431.html

I won the frame for £510, which against the list price is a flippin bargain.

I've just bought a brand new Shimano Ultegra groupset to fit to it. Campag was my prefered choice, but the Ultegra was nearly £300 cheaper, although it's not got any sexy carbon cranks. But there's enough carbon in the frame to satisfy my needs :p

Colnago's were going for silly money on Ebay.

Here's the listing, can you tell me why many people would have ignored it. The chap I bought it off was a really nice guy, he just didn't like the frame, mostly because of the blue painted chainstays

Its the cabdurys cricket pavillion in bournville.

"Also known as the Cadbury Cricket Pavillion and the Coronation Cricket Pavillion (it was given in commemoration of the coronation of King Edward VII), this impressive building was a gift to the Bournville Cricket Club (from whom, I don't know) and was opened in June 1902."

The company I have just got in with do 100% heritage work, unless you count prince harrys new house that they have been asked to build;)

I REALLY want that on my CV!

I knew i recongised that building, that whole estate was originally supposed to be some kinda eutopia designed by the family, i have worked on private houses on that estate and you still have to get permission to do certain stuff.

Anyway, what needs doing to it, it looks fine from your picture

yup, the area was taken over by the cadbury family and made into their own ideal haven..

Its grade 1 listed so EVERYTHING needs permission to be done on it.

Theres some remedial restoration to the exterior...(god I'm sounding so "work" now:rolleyes:) but the inside is having some pretty major works done.

Ill know more next week (funnily enough on the same day I test ride the new bike) :)

I do a lot of surveys on the Bourneville Village Estate, there's a covenant on every house within the boundaries which prohibits the modification of the exterior design and look. We have to be very careful how we install the cavity wall insulation so you can't tell where we've drilled the holes etc. Residents can't keep caravans on driveways or out up satellite dishes and stuff like that.

D'you know I was racking my brains about what that was - I knew I recognised it and it was Birmingham somewhere...it's only where we had my school sports days when I was a little kid! And that's my primary school over the road btw...

Do a good job on it for me won'tcha?!

Oh and stuff the money - your new job is located right next door to a chocolate factory!! :smt118

I could even oversee the work too if you like... has been a long time since I got mashed in plymouth!

Is the "significant half" and the "conservatory" pubs still there?

The sniffyc*ntarse is no longer, and has changed hands twice since then and the c*ntservatory has changed too. We still have plenty of other classy (;)) establishments though! lol

Structural work aye? Might wanna dig the cellar out as it's not quite full height. Just wanna be able to stand up in there. How deep do Victorian/Edwardian foundations usually go down?

Depends a lot on what the house is built on.

A small test hole dug at one side will go a long way to tell you how deep they are ;)

I spent 12 great months working on the 9 dock project a while ago, lived in the lord beresford in devonport and was out most evenings in the town:)
