Col, i done 110 miles yesterday so you must have a done a bit more than that.
OK, I must have done about 90 then, the miles on that Aprillia Shiver must have disappeared under my wheels. And you can probably say 10 road miles for every 1 or 2 off road in terms of impact through the bars. Still wouldn't make a 270 mile rideout though, hands were tender just pushing Euan's pushchair round Brum today, bit swollen again, need to rest them for a while.
I'll make sure I make up for it at GM4. :D
What GM4?? don't you know all the best things last for 3 years. They have the decency to bow out on a high!:cool:

Yep we've got midges at home for the first time, the cold winter that was supposed to kill them aparently just extended their hibernation time allowing them to grow and more food around now so more of them.

If you think you need new pads, then fit them. I ran mine down to the metal last year and probably ruined a disc.
Either take your own lube or see if a mate is taking some and contribute to the cost. We've got a small 150ml Wurth Dry Chain can to take. Lubing the chain is easy if a mate pulls the bike up on the sidestand and lifts the rear wheel off the ground, or roll and lube

random question i know (people with a scottoiler need not reply in smugness!!!)
Won't reply then! :) Even those with Scottoilers will need to take lube to top up the oiler. I have a lubetube reservoir to increase mileage between top-ups but used all of that last year (1800 miles). A normal scottoiler fill will last about 800 miles, so folks with scottoilers will probably be taking a little pot of oil. I know I will be.

And if you are a small tiny girl you can actually do it yourself all in one go, pushing up the rear end onto the sidestand and spinning the back wheel. Although I would recommend you have the mate standing there if you haven't done it before, you might push it over.

Have to get the new Viffer No chance, ugly PoS that is! 165 odd bhp from 1200 motor? Rubbish!
or buy the number plate reservoir then. :) Loobtube gives good range without top up, but will probably need to fill the RMV once on this trip. Claire's will need at least 2 fills depending on miles.

serious Q..
re documents..
always on trips I take my Rac card , my insurance and both parts of licence..
but V5 ?? hear mention of it might be requested if stopped.. surely reg and my D licence will prove my address and ownership.. or do I need it?
cos you is a foreign country and all that
AndyBrad
22-06-10, 12:43 PM
Im taking nowt like that quiff. Just think if it gets lost/damaged its gonna cost at the best at worst you could be in for some hassle.
If they want your docs ill fax em ;)
Luckypants
22-06-10, 12:53 PM
Andy, having insurance, MOT and drivers licence documentation with you is just good sense. If stopped and you are asked for them, being able to produce them makes plod better disposed to you. If you need docs in the event of a crash, you will have them. Mine live under the seat in a waterproof bag all year round. As you have a triumph the RAC / AA card might be the most important one though! :smt082

Yea not got the rac card unfortunaly. Gone for autoaid, will hopefully never have to use it but if i do it will be interesting to see if its worth the 100 quid saved?
Looks like having the docs is a good idea, but not a necessity:

hang on a minute, have they done away with producers now?
I carry my photocard drivers licence bit and have had one or two producers in the past where you have 7 days to produce MOT DL and Insurance at a police station of your choice - do they not do this anymore?

22-06-10, 01:22 PM

Pete was done for speeding, Yes you still get 7 day producers. I tend to carry phptocopies of all mine just to make life easier, legally you dont have to carry any, however if you cant prove who you are the constables may not be as friendly and helpful as they normally are.
Paul the 6th
22-06-10, 02:12 PM
especially if I'm english :) thanks for clearing this up KG.
No qualms about carrying my drivers licence with me but v5/mot/insurance certificate stay in my filing cabinet in my office unless otherwise requested by the police.
Tempted to stick the standard can on for the weekend to make it a bit more bareable for dani. Sounds great but it's not very exciting when you're gently up and down the revs to make the ride more comfy for your pillion
I'm afraid I don't carry anything I lose things too often!
As for the emailed doc's - never had any problem with them so far always print a copy for when needed - checked with the local road policing unit and they didn't have a problem with it.
as for publishing the route - don't worry even if its wasn't published we would still be easy picking due to the numbers. However if everyone acts sensibly then we should be fine. The police will pick up those speeding significantly however and any cars will be monitoring rider behaviour.
