Weathers scorching in Aberdeen :)
Lovely 30.5 degress in the office :(

Ralph, as for Kilts, am in two minds...
I bought the kilt when I was 16, so its pushing it for fitting me!
But will probably take it, will let you know!

On a more serious note, kilt and midgies don't mix :(

Hey, combatfred, I resemble that remark . . ." What's the world coming to if you can't trust the opinion of a urine soaked OAP collegue! " but I'm working on it.
Payback time for all the insults ( & bacfires ) I've sent your way? ;)

Bike is prepped - service 2 weeks ago, so tonight I checked oil, tyres, topped up chain oiler, adjusted suspension and fuelled up. Haven't bother cleaning it (not as OCD as Quiff) as by the time I get uo to the campsite it will be splattered with bugs anyway.

Clingfilmed up a 500ml bottle of engine oil (my Triumph hardly burns any oil, but you never know :) ) and a bottle of scottoiler oil. Few tools packed, along with puncture and first aid kits.

Camera batteries (x3) charged up and memory cards formatted (enough for about 5000 photos!)

Just need to pack a few clothes in the morning, load up the panniers, topbox and tankbag and we are good to go.

200 miles tomorrow to Quiff's, and then about 300 miles from his place to Beinglas on Friday morning.

See you all up there :smt045

Bike is ready, just need to swap the wheels over and it's sorted.
Not packed yet, but food bought.

310 miles or so route up there, google reckons 8 hours 21 minutes :)

370 miles for us but only 6 1/2 hours.

Brake and clutch to be bled, plus a general lookover and bolt tightening. Fairings back on, then packing.

Trying to pace ourselves, so as to give us something do instead of climbing the walls.

We're not overly rich at the mo and what extra money we could be spending on meals out we could be spending on fuel so although we will have the odd meal like on saturday evening, we will have our little camping stove with us. Also we will be off on our own for 3 days, much cheaper to just have our own dry meals :)

Basically we're you're average pair of skinflints ;-)

Both the site food and Drovers grub isn't cheap, so you could scoot into Tyndrum and get something a bit cheaper or there are/were stoves in the lean-to cook something on. Can't remember what the breakfast facilities are, as we had the excellent breakfast gazebo provided and maned by Ralph and KG (IIRC) at GM1.

Beinglas breakfasts in the pub bit have been excellent when I've been there a couple of times last year. They do a scary brekky for £6ish which is really for the nutters heading out to walk 20+ miles on the next bit of the West Highland Way, but it's perfect for bikers that love their grub .

I think me and Uki on GM 1 paid about £9 or £10 on the site pub for a lovely meal.. so it not too bad - if you have the means in these trying times- and of course the Drovers inn has grub- £8 or £9 ish for normal mains like sausage and mash or haggis (reccomended) and they do Pizza in the evening til 10.. its Ok Andy you wont go hungry - but like Miss Yc says- a beer and a meal and 2 of you - its looking around the £30 a day mark.. which is a lot when most of us are on a budget.

we taking butties for on the way up - luckily will get a breakfast with the B and B on site included and may just share a bag of chips for dinner.. since the economy dropped we go out for a meal and share a a main in an indian and chinese often.. made us realise just how much money we wasted before as we never ate a whole meal each anyway ..

Andy - just bring some marshmallows and toast them on the fire- marshmallows with midge filling- yum

I've had to leave a pair of trousers behind and we'll be wearing fleeces tomorrow even though it'll be about 100 degrees!
