View Full Version : Scotty fitting question - pic required
Do you have a scottoiler fitted?
Do you have a camera?
Can you take a picture of how you have the bit on the swing arm and the end that lubes the chain fitted?
Ta - cause I'd like to see how a few have there's before fitting mine :-)

Yeah drilled and tapped. I had tie wraps before, but it looked **** and never held the pipe exactly where I wanted it
Nice one thanks Darren - so there's one idea to consider - what else have people done and how have they found it in the real world?
When i was considering fitting one of these i was thinking of using sum heavy duty double sided and these

I couldnt drill and tap my swing arm, too scary. Sorry no pics because i ended up oiling my chain the old fashioned way:)

Hopefully Lozzo will pop up in here because I personally think he has one of the neatest Scotoiler installs from pics I've seen. I want mine to hopefully look like it at some point.

Pointed mine at the FRONT sprocket.
Makes sense, shorter route for the pipe and easier to hide too:thumleft:

Does it make less mess pointed at the FS?

Not really & in fact might get more oil on the edge of the tyre ( chicken strip territory ) which needs thinking about.
mmm, interesting ideas, anyone have any other set up they wish to show? I'm kinda hoping to get a few examples to consider if possible please
Any more pics before I fit this at the weekend?
Mate, you want me to pop round on saturday.... Weather permitting... You can have a look at mine in the flesh...
If you can see it throught the **** thats on the swing arm that is....

It was really dirty when I took the pic, but here's what mine looks like. Trust me, it looks a LOT better (cleaner) now :)

Pointed mine at the FRONT sprocket.
I point mine where Mr Scott designed it to be pointed. If he thought it should be pointed at the front sprocket he'd have said so in the fitting instructions.

Yep. O'Reilley told me so!
If the adjustment's right it'll make no noticeable difference & it saves A LOT of unsprung weight!
The front sprocket is an interesting idea and gets round a problem I have with the gear i have and that's a rear paddock stand that lifts the swing arm not bobbins. If the pipe is on the bottom of the swing arm it'll get crushed every time I use the stand and that is a problem I was hoping to avoid. Has anyone mounted their scotty down the outside or inside of the swing arm and made it look good?
