Prices to be exact.
just won a vfr 750 thats down in torbay, i live in surrey.
Cant pick it up at all and the guy wants almost £300 to deliver it.
roughly a 350 mile round trip.
Sounds like abit of a rip to me so can any one recomend a bike transport service??
looking for reliability and good prices.
Thanks brock.

Less than a pound per mile in a van, £75 for fuel, a mans wages for the day £80,cost of van insurance/tax/maintenance and depreciation £15 per day= total cost £170.
Must be cheaper to have a day off and ride it back unless you are on excellent wages
Why did you buy so far away?
Might be able to help you out - how much are you offering? ;)

Hire a van and collect it yourself? ive done this before, few cushions and some rope, job done :D
I'm off to Torbay next weekend so may be able to help out. I live in Wiltshire so would cut the distance between you and the bike down a bit, it would invlove me riding it back though; not sure whether you'd want that?
PM me if you want.

Loads of mans with vans on ebay, I had quote from manchester - molesey, was circa £100-£130
depends if they can double up jobs in the area. being a peninsular it'll probably be a little more expensive,

Could try using a site like Shiply (http://www.shiply.com/vehicle-delivery/cheap-motorcycle-transport.php) to get quotes, up to you to make sure to choose someone you trust though.

Vfr750 or VFR750R?
depending on which one I'd ride it back, (travel & foods paid)

vfr750...could always superdream it down then just strap the mighty 250 to your back for the return;)

it'd probably be easier to strap the vfr to the superdream, as its probably 1/2 the weight!

they would want an extra £50 for insurance because of my age, ford transit rental £40 so £90 for rental, diesel is then going on top dont know how much that will be plus abit more for me, try a local white van man i guess, my mom wont let me throw it in the back of jeep either, sorry

If Mum's jeep has a towbar you could also look at hiring a bike trailer for the day (assuming she'll let you borrow it). Probably cheaper than a van.

Thanks for all your help guys and for offering sunshine.
Christopher has come up with a winner though, a van man from down there has quoted me £85 and he has done bikes before so all is good.
thanks again everyone

brock I was in the same boat but risked it,i used ebike temp insurance. I know so some people who are riding unrestricted and have crashed and have never had an issue. Needles to say i restricted it when i got it back, druid can confirm lol.
Glad your sorted.
