Huzzah! My dad has fitted a new clutch - plates and srpings, and removed the slight small notches on the basket. He hasnt put the covers back on yet so I had a good inspection. When the lever is pulled, the plates dont have to move too much to be fully disengaged do they? I also see now how the plates are designed to interact with the hub / basket to transfer drive from the engine to the gearbox. Interesting stuff and some new things learnt
I cant wait to be back out on it, but with all this nice weather we're having now...tha can only mean it'll run out soon and rain will be here again :(
Chain has been left soaking in my old engine oil aswell, I've had a nightmare trying to keep it rust-free...the rollers have been fine, but the sideplates have taken a beating from the winter weather and the road salt :( Rear caliper needs attention, and the bike needs a proper clean
by the way, where are the earths on the bike? I understand there is one somehwere on the engine or on the frame, I can't locate it though but I want to check the earths because I have a "christmas tree" effect when I have my indicators on!
Roll on the biking season.
