Thank you very muchly! As for a new enduro bike? No chance, my SXS is keeper and still going strong!

She is pretty aint she! I had my heart set on a black one but the white really sparkles. The R has superb handling, shes all day comfortable and wheelie good fun! The trumpet oozes quality and is silky smooth compared to the Ducati which was flimsy and cheap with a jerky throttle even after throwing my bank balance at it.
After 6 months of no riding (recovering after an op) it was time to treat myself. Just need a dry day or 2 so I can go play!

Very nice, do you ever feel the two bikes are too similar in the sense they both have wide bars, upright position, naked ect? Looking at a KTM duke later this year but concerned I'll end up finding them too similar..
barwel1992
02-04-13, 06:59 AM
In short no, there very different the ktm is huge in comparison to the fz1 , and the ktm is much less stable but turn in and how little effort is needed to hold a line is definitely it's stron point, the fz1 on the other hand feels tiny and has a sports bike feel, knees are quite high and you actually lean forward quite a bit , the fz1 dosnt turn in incomparison to the ktm, you have to really work the fz1 in the corners but although the engine in the ktm is very good the fz1 is less so around town but if you want to go fast the fz1 is ballistic and is by far my favorite bit about the bike

Atassiedevil - I got one of those !! VF750F' s. Mines is unfortunately in pieces. Stripped to rebuild and realised the engine was tottally gubbed, so plan is to use it for parts for a second one - a runner this time. Cost of rebuilding & repairing engine is far more than you could try to spend on one of these in mint condition.

SIII, if you're going to do that, do it quick and find one quick. They're rapidly increasing in value i'm finding.
My aim is to have one flavour of each ultimately, VF400, VF500, VF750, VF1000...and a VF750C for goofing around on.
Should be fun if i manage it. Did you ever hear yours running? I love mine to bits.

I had a VF1000F (track bike) but it had a golf ball sized hole in the engine when I got rid of it due to poor cam oiling, common on the 1000's.
Was a great bike though.
I gave it to a mate who needed the swingarm and rear shock for his VF.

I have taken my SV off the road for a few weeks for some rebuild work, but this leaves me with out a bike. Well it just so happens that if I slap the wife about a bit I can steal this...
https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/10488236_10152903321025828_4087883201761277495_n.j pg?oh=d03fb1c54e40e8f71de580f039a2e84b&oe=543B1441
It is the wife's ZRX1100, it is a heavy old bruiser and I wont be ridingit very far because it kills me with the weight and the lack of nimble steering.
If that does not work, there is always this wreck...
https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xaf1/t1.0-9/563481_10151745146565828_1066324464_n.jpg
It is only when they go off the road that you realise how much you take it for granted that you can just run out to the garage and go for a blast. :p

Here's the VFR I've replaced my beloved SV650 for.
2002 VFR800 VTEC.
16k on the clock
Came with...
Hugger
Double bubble screen.
Fender extender
Immobiliser (only bit i dont like. Never had one before n im never having one again!)
Ive managed to get hold of a 3rd generation (around 1990) VFR 8 spoke wheel for the back, and had both front and back powdercoated.
It sounded abit like a sawing machine with the standard exhaust on (especially coming from an SV with Beowulf) so I've put twin Delkevic end cans on to unleash the V4 growl!
Oh and I've splashed out and fitted a Garmin Zumo 390 and Oxford heated grips.
im happy with it so far. Got everything i want on it now, looks good IMO, goes well, comfy and handles pretty well too. So its everything i want.
If only it was as good on fuel as the SV..
Havent got an proper pictures yet. I'll take some when the weathers fit (:

Doesnt sound as deep as an SV with decent aftermarket can tbh.
Sounds alreet though. More of an induction roar when the VTEC kicks in at 7k rpm tbh.
Fair picks its feet up though... Aha (:
