View Full Version : Sack him, or keep him II (speeding)
Just seen the photo's.
Photo 1. Taken as the guy exits a bend, angle approx 20degrees from camera. Speed 82 in a 70.
Photo 2. Speed on photo has been snopaked out!
Which of either, or both, of the above is solid evidence?
The driver is contesting it, and is also adamant he had his cruise control set at 70 - Not that that will prove anything.
Mmmm, wait and see what transpires but something is a bit dodgy.
P.S. the power output of his company car was more than 33bhp ;)

I think this is the guy that works for Bri W who is an habitual speeder.
TBH 82 in a 70 isn't that bad but he keeps getting caught...I don't keep to the speed limit but in 8 years of driving I haven't been caught.
Why bother with the hassle...get rid.
ah yes but this was the chap who was really good at his job bri?

I would think only Photo 1 could be put forward as solid evidence - but I'm no expert.
The guy has been caught before. Thus he'll say pretty much anything not to be conficted again (Loose his job).
Personally - I'd keep him employed and see how thing's go. Unless that is, you need someone mobile in that position.....

So, from the angle of dangle ( 20 degrees ) he's actually doing over 90?
Someone will be along in a moment & do the calculation I can't be rsed to do!
if you have a speeding ticket for it and can prove he was driving then hand it over to him and get him to deal with them direct.

Me, and habitual speeder!? Sorry, couldn't stop myself.
Like you, I've been known to push it on occasion. Saturday saw me get it up to just short of 130mph... on a quiet stretch of track;) 34yrs without a ticket - more by luck than judgement.
My query is does the changing angle make the first photo inaccurate, and why is the speed snopaked out in the second photo?
Caught 5 times in less than 4 years makes him an idiot, and also guilty of poor observation - a careless driver.
Personally, as a failed pedestrian, I hope they kick seven shades of.... and relax Bri.

He's probably the best engineer, out of 51, that we've got and it would cost us about £180k to replace him - training costs and expenses.
Barring a horrendous sentence we'll keep him but not without various changes to his contract.
My query was about the evidence.

82 in a 70, thats a joke, i have overtaken loads of police on the motorway at that speed, they dont even bat an eyelid.
EDIT, if that whats they recorded it at then indicated was probably 90 in which case your struggling.

THERE HE IS!
and on song too sir, I dont think I've seen this one before. Very well done.
get rid of him only when he completely loses his license. (if he can get to work then its good for him and good for you)?
Why lose a good employee just because of a few speeding tickets, no matter what speed he was doing.

I think this thread is about an employee who is going to lose his licence and whether allowances should be made to keep him on (because he is their best employee)
I would say keep him (getting traffic infractions is all too easy :-$)

Sounds like he needs a nice little 1 Litre Diesel to potter about in if he wants to keep his job . One with really skinny tyres and puts the fear of God into him at 60 mph .

A couple of Hundred-weight of Anvils and Vices in the back should slow him down
