So..

Looking forward to going to Scotland

all ready on the Thursday afternoon and waiting on the arrival of Matt Sv and Anita after their long trip up from Southampton..

a relax in the garden -pub for tea.. a relax in the garden and then early to bed.

uneventful run up the motorway and stop at nice services with a pond..and ducks.. very relaxing.

wizzed up the old road then that runs alongside the motoway oh wow what a road.. and a jet fighter screamed overhead - that was brilliant..

before we knew it we were through Glasgow way and at paisley .. stopped at Mcdonalds and there was a wedding reception in Mcdonalds I kid you not..

chilled out for half an hour on the grass verge watching the clever seagulls bang on the bin top till one could get in and rip the bags of maccy D's out.. then they ripped it apart.. (left the gherkin)

and before we knew it - we were there at Beinglass.. about a 7 hour journey and felt like 5 mins.. was good practice for riding through France with Matt in september.

so ,, sunday was goodbyes and me and Mand matt SV and Anita had booked in a B and B in Mallaig so we headed off that way - stopping at Tyndrum to fill up with petrol

mand thinking she could handle it.. (not even got her feet on the riders pegs ! )

in the layby on the switch back- the piper.. stopped and had a good chat to him

we then went and did the Ballaculsih loop just us 2 bikes- was nice..

We went on to Fort William and watched the England germany game in a pub.. well a bit of it left at 4 goals! .. we had to wait til there was a goal to see who everyone was supporting..

then we were off on the wonderful beautiful ace 40 odd mile route to mallaig- wow that road is superb..

Reached our lovely B and B (ideal for ferry) nice n early for a beer and a rest .. and yep some chips. !

saw some baby seagulls though .. and then matt said is that a seal? na its a rock.. na its a seal.. by the time he had got his tripod and big lens and camera and unwrapped it and set it up for elephants and exposure . he missed the seal.. twonk.! me got it. .. ha

Monday mornin - up at 7 30 to get a ticket for ferry .. breakfast then on ferry to Skye for the half 9 crossing of 20 minutes.. bit of a dreary day but brightened up..

note our bikes in the same places and Pete and lissa and numbers and raving davies when they crossed some days later..

we rode up to Broadford and got some very expensive petrol.. then on the advice of Indi photo hung a left for 15 miles down a single track for the "best cake ever" and a hot chocolate with a free jug of frothy milk.. to top up... we got there after a lovely ride with small roaqds, passing places, sheep , switchbacks, bridges .. and about 40 minutes and it was Closed !!

one around the corner was open though .. and there was a queue.. !

this man was feeding logs in one end of this machine and out came lovely chopped up firewood logs.. however he was on his own and about 8 miles from anywhere in any direction.. My health and safety alarm in my head was goin nuts ..

Mand works for a major timber merchant and sources wood from this area so all these piles could be destined for her place..

so after much cake.. and drinks which was only about £8 .. ace.. we headed back and shot up through Broadford to portree.. on the way we saw a lovely bridge and a mad lady waving.. turned out to be a very midge eaten and soaking wet maria and Yorkie chris.. stopped.. some pics. had a chat then we went oor seperate ways.. bumped in to them in portree laters ..

this was the bridge near the distillery .. which it turned out was the end of our second loop of skye ..

off up to Portree we went- lovely roads to ride..

then back down and saw the yorkies again..

A german group pulled up .. on Gs's .. bear in mind this is monday after sundays defeat .. asking directions.. Matt sv said I cant hear you .. take off your helmet.. german took off helmet.. took out ear plugs asked directions..Matt said I dont know I am not local.. .. ha class. ! na he was friendly and pointed them in the right direction.. I think..

we were crossing the road on a zebra crossing and nearly got knocked over by a black car .. it was Haggis !! coincidence or what ? I think he is a taxi driver as the Ducati riding skye man was in the back.. :D:D

A short discussion whether to do skye loops clockwise or anti.. and we were off again..

not long in to the ride and we dropped on the viewpoint here with small waterfall and jurassic claims..

now. mand has massive feet- size 8 .. but look at the size of those footprints...

got asked by some chinese if there was a petrol station nearby .. I didnt know.. I mean fancy coming to skye to tour with no petrol.. ! they must have passed through broadford. cos we saw them later on in a village further north ..

Skye is beautiful worth a visit .. at least once in your life..

I was slightly confused as to where we were and why we had passed the castle.. turned out we hadnt it was another town with a wee castle and similar name and my sat nav was goin nuts cos there about 3 Uigs..

Matt sorted us out with his calmness and Anita's brains and we headed off again..

incidentally we went to the castle on Skye but you cant see it .. unless you pay- we even rode down the side road to the bay to try get a view.. nope.. as we approached it we spotted Pete n lissa and raving and numbers all leaving.. maybe they saw us coming !>.

Dunvegan castle I think it is..

Skye was lovely and massive .. a lot bigger than i thought.. Highly reccomended to anyone.

certainly the best time to go.. if I go again I will make sure it is 6 ish.. cos you can jump the wall and walk down the bridge ..

plus then you have the road to Fort william / spean bridge etc with lovely views and sweeping roads and sights like this..

so we dropped on the commando memorial at spean bridge.. low sun.. very quiet and very poignant- again last year it was all people this year about 8 people 4 of them being us..

looked in the memorial garden there too.. some sad stories there..from 2010 in Afghanistan and back to 19 hundred and a bit.. very moving..makes you think,.. and thank.

we did the westerly thing the next day ..

that night we went to fort william on way back and had an ace tandoori and got in the B and b at midnight after the long 44 mile mallaig road.. had to stop to wipe midges off the visors it was mad !

Ok so a wee ride later and some fun and we land at Fort Augustus.. at the bottom of Loch ness.

This has the staircase locks one after the other from the caledonian canal in to Loch ness and lovely lovely yachts come down the lochs.. it really is a lovely place. pubs n shops n the lochs and tourists..

the whole road moves across on a swing bridge..

Ok then the big ride west- plan to get to the most remote part west in UK.. lighthouse etc.. looking forward to it as single track roads. twisties .. passing places .. remoteness and ace views..

filled up with expensive petrol and off.. it was about 2 hours of ace riding.. me n matt keep swapping leader .. hitting bumps.. not seein a sole for ages .. going 10 miles in themiddle of nowhere then seeing a solitary house with a kids trampoline in the garden ???? what do they do? where do they go? ..

the lighthouse does self catering accommodation for walkers.. long walk for bread n milk though..

it was late - gone 10 when we got back to mallaig .. ohh that mallaig road at 9.30 is ace.. I musta reached 60 mph at least.. brilliant..

when we got back nothing was open.. no chippy no co op.. no restauraunts or cafes..

so Mand said i run up to the other small shop and see if it open.. she gone 20 mins so we went after her.. it was shut.. worried we looked for her, then saw her coming out of the pub with about 20 packets of crisps and nuts ! .. .

no option but to go in pub..

they had in a warmer 2 bridies? 2 sausage rolls and a couple of scotch pies.. they were £1.80 each . ! due to the hour the guy said you can have them for a £1.. Matt said We'll take the lot !>

so that is how we wnded our lovely day .. loads of pies and crisps and beer in a pub in Mallaig .. chillin out.

it was our last day with Matt and Anita as they were heading home for their daughters prom on wednesday and we were taking the ferry again to Skye and over to Applecross .. a lady at breakfast had said we must visit Plockton..

Plockton.. mmmmmmmmmmmmm fell in love with it .. and we may get married there.. on a boat in the harbour- watch this space.

Indeed 'mainland'....however if you want the most Westerly Lighthouse in the UK you have to get on two ferries, in which Tiger 55 will be giggling profusely, when you get there, just so you carry his bike round the corner of the foghorn to get a super picture. Very perilous, as theres no 'road' as such.....is it the same one as yours???????

I'm blown away, I keep thinking I must have seen the best but it just keeps getting better quiff, loads of shots in there that got that "cor, I wish I'd taken that" reaction. the locks with the water flowing over looks ace and the shot of Mandy looking over the water at Plockton, nicely done!

plan was find a B and B in Plockton.. drop off the panniers before heading off to do the ballecc nabarrrrr or whatever its called.. (found the top box brill to be honest for day trips.. . never thought I would say it .. maybe I am getting old)

then we heard some real shouting very aggressive in german.. and it was the BMW chap ranting at his mate next to him as he backed out and came a bit close to the BMW.. ha he was in a real bad mood and none too happy with me taking his pic.. .. all the gear no idea.. they musta had 10 min start on us.as we stopped to check route and plan and have a quick drink... and we caught them up.! and overtook them

ok.. then a fill up with petrol a turn left and a lovely run to Plockton..

Mand gettin on at petrol station got a split ring(oo err mrs) on her boot caught up on the seat and was stuck she got off back on again and was very quiet (autocom) after 5 mins I said why u quiet..

oh dave I have ripped the seat.. ! me £140 Corben seat ! agghhh I was mad and sad and upset.. so rode in silence to Plockton ... til I got off . and it wasnt the seat it was the tribo cover she had ripped.. pheww..

so I gave her a kiss n cuddle and siad it didnt matter.. til i remembered the tribo's are £15 !! ha.. never mind..

(there was worse to come)

qwe arrived at Plockton and found a great little B and B owned by callum who does the seal trips.. we loved this place.. .

but- before that .. we went through a wee lil hamlet with cattle free grazing.. it was ace..
