My top ten (that I'll admit on here!) would include:

The Shawshank Redemption
The Bone Collector
Valkyrie
Forrest Gump
Blood Diamond
Gran Torino
American History X
Green Mile
Goodfellas
Road to Perdition

I watched Ronin a couple of weeks ago - utter she-height. Sean Bean doesn't even take his top off, whats that all about?!

I'm between downloading most of the ones listed which i havent seen and this thread.
Ok one that probs will not get said by anyone but 40 year old Scots.

'Restless Natives' I'm biased hence my avatar, but what a film suzuki GP125 getaway car/bike.

'The Expendables' was good as a cheap thrill with most of the hollywood action acters in.

'Powder' a great touching and thought provoking film (nowt to do with coke).

'Fear and loathing in las vegas' Depp is truely strange in this un.

'Top Gun' +1 from me as previously mentioned.

'Overboard' funny but a bit old.

'Blown Away' Tommy Lee & Jeff Bridges class film for action thiller.

'Airheads' funny if you like 80s metal.

'Anvil' such a class rockumentery i promise you'll have a soft spot for Lips.

'Ghost' if you're takin the misses.

these films I've chosen as they appeal to a wide audience although i like em too.

Ghost! I proposed to Barbara bended knee etc in the queue to go in and see Ghost - sadly she said yes....

If you're including old black and white's like "It's a wonderful life" can I include the original "Miracle on 34th street." On the run up to Xmas, especially if its a cold wet day, I'll put both one or the other on to remind me what Xmas is all about.

You've mentioned Xmas in August Bri, but I'll allow it, as the original Miracle on 34th Street is one of my all time fav's

Delicatessen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delicatessen_%28film%29) - If you came from Mars you'd still know it's French, truly, truly excellent post apocalypse/1940s surrealism. Wonderful. Actually anything by Jeunet and Caro is worth watching.

C'etait Un Rendezvous (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%27etait_un_Rendezvous). Yes, it's a fake, but it's gloriously irresponsible and contraband and therefore desperately cool and vital.

Bicycle Thieves (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bicycle_Thieves) - An object lesson in how unfair life can be.

Leaving Las Vegas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leaving_Las_Vegas) - A car crash of a film, relentlessly grim but difficult not to watch.
