Fair point - we're half thinking about the route for the rideout being to the chippy and back (a huge 4 miles)
...and its bang opposite the petrol station so we can all chip in with the change to fill up to get us back to site :smt101

oooo there has been some interest from my fellow Raptor owners, that I met last year at the Buell/Italian bike Charity dooo, nice bunch of chaps and chapesses, few in numbers(usually 3, but 10 last year), think I was the youngest!....fancied a bit a campout, ride and a few beers....as there are so few of them, they very rarely meet at all.
Any objections to a couple of friends tagging along?
If you want to bring pets, you have to make sure you clean up after them... otherwise, it's fine by me.

11-04-11, 08:46 PM
Dizz if 10 said they were coming, does that mean about 2 or 3 will make it due to the italian nature of their motor sickles

LOL, probably! If I don't get to the bottom of this leaky radiator, I'll be ont SV!
Is it still leaking? I thought you had it replaced?
dizzyblonde
12-04-11, 11:14 AM
If I'd have had it replaced it still would have done the same thing....they all do it at some point, I'll tell you some time. Theres over a six month waiting period to get a new one from Cagiva!
I had it repaired under warranty, and its gone 800 miles ish before it went pop last week. I was kinda hoping I was one of the minority that have them repaired and its 100% forever.....I was in the majority that don't :( Radweld is my friend.....when I get round to putting some in!

I can't get the Friday off so I'll be trying to finish early (2ish) then heading home to grab my gear & then straight up from Sheffield.
Anyone heading up past/this way around that time re the ride up?
dizzyblonde
12-06-11, 01:30 PM
won't take you long to get there, its a couple of hrs away from there.
Peeps will be arriving all night.
There are those who turn up at 3am.....it has been known!!
I'm sure there won't be anyone, but if there are people out there looking for a new tent to come up with then this months RiDE magazine (August 2011 edition) has a 15 tent group test. Not much on the cheap side of things, but there are four with an RRP below £100 and the Argos Value 2-man at just over £10 (which came last-equal with a tent 20 times the price). It still picked up a recommended tag though.

Get the family on the boat then say - while slapping forehead - "ooops, I left the iron switched on, will just pop back home to turn it off", then arrive back in Norfolk on Sunday night and blame the bad traffic.

Its actually karma kicking me up the backside as I have tickets to see Iron Maiden the previous weekend. If I didn't have those we would of gone away the week before and I would be free for this.

Who can beat that for distance and/or time eh, eh? There has to be a prize for the winner?
The Idle Biker
28-06-11, 10:01 PM
Talking of which do you do a spoof award ceremony, maybe awarded by organisers or attending mods along the lines of.
Best power ranger leathers
Dirtiest bike
Most drunk on Friday night
Greediest git around the BBQ
Most argumentative org poster
Smelliest tent
Best bike in show
Worst taste modification etc etc
You get the gist? Could be funny, maybe?
andrewsmith
28-06-11, 10:04 PM
Most of that could be answered now
I'm not going to name anyone
dizzyblonde
29-06-11, 06:25 AM
most of those would be won by YC!
I have had thoughts along those lines actually, so you'll have to wait and see.

I have no idea about Bill. dirtiest bike always goes to YC, most ARs and not ridden actually is likely to be me over DP.... He only started coming to them in 09(likely to be others too, I'm not the only one). I've not done a rideout since 2007, I'm still reluctant to do this one, but its ours so its kind of mandatory! Loudest pipe...me! Best bike ain't a trumpet, its the bus:-dd *
Not sure about awards titles yet, cause I haven't got any trophies to suit!

Just not meant to be this year.
All new staff at work this year, still not well enough trained to run things while I'm away.
And now a massive road construction project where I work has me daily comunicating with town and construction officials to keep the area open to my and other local businesses as much as possible.

Have tried my best and hoped things might work out where I could go but they have not.

DO NOT SHOOT ME DOWN IN FLAMES --I have looked but there is so much stuff, where is the map of the route? Just thinking that with all these markers required if a clear and precise map of the route was available beforehand that people could familiarise themselves with, life would be a bit easier for everybody partaking in the ride and doing the organising.Google satellite and a quick printout
OR IS IT ALL SECRET SQUIRREL TO CONFUSE EVERYBODY
dizzyblonde
07-07-11, 03:31 PM
No you can't have a route map. Simple answer, we don't want anyone apart from those who need it(at this moment)have it.
There will be a map with the route supplied to each and every one of those attending on the day.
Plus, common sense IMO, you don't publically show a map of a route when you have such a big show, wouldn't want any overboard attention from our local constabulary.
So ner, consider yourself shot

just looked up where the campsite is and although it says its in yorkshire, you possibly couldnt have got it closer to the lancashire border if you tried, and if you put the postcode into google it comes up Lancaster, which is in lancashire, just thaught it was much further away.
This amused me just thaught id throw it into the mix, it would be interesting to find there the county line goes though, i know it goes through todmorden but cant seem to find a map that shows it fully.

Geeky question
Is anyone intending to use bike-bike etc. And what frequencies/channels etc.
I tend to leave my radio pre programmed with the standard Kenwood channels. but if people are intending to be clever or off PMR frequencies etc useful to know before hand so I can set up the radio as I never can remember without my lists and manual

IS that the same as using polystyrene cups and bits of string Tim?

what kind of dirty dish water i mean beer is likely to be on tap down there?
Usual suspects, I'd expect - looks like it's bottles, wines and spirits and a local brewery doing specials. Not my field of expertise, so I'll unleash the Preston on the bar Thursday and hope that he's sampled enough to give us a full report for the gate.
Can the people arriving thursday leave some of the mushrooms for the rest of us to pick!
I doubt there will be anything like that... too many sheep around. On the other hand, some of the wool is natural tie-dye

I think....its from a local brewery, seem to recall some conversation when we went to have a nose around, but don't quote me.
On another point, he did point out that politely, we aren't to take any tinnies in his bar, which is understandable.
