Good work guys and gals! Dont give up giving up, it gets easier every day. When you need a fag, have a shag instead! Worked for me. Keep busy to take your mind off it, and spend all those saved pennies on summit shiny. ;)
Well done and keep it up.

Good job Rob, you are past the worst...if you give in now you are doing yourself a real injustice! I've made it into month 3 now...I quit on 16/9 after smoking for 19 years and used patches (step 1, step 2 and didn't bother with step 3). Don't make the mistake I made before when I failed, I thought I could be a part-time smoker when I had a drink after not smoking for 4 months...don't smoke another ciggie ever!
It does get easier, just don't give in when you get that empty feeling, it passes in no time. Also, follow Amplimator's advice!

I smoked for about 6 years. Never had the desire to quit. tried a couple of times. best i got to was the 6 month mark once, but i was always stealing fags from mates at the pub etc. was going to the doc to get every tool i could but no luck. Then about 4 years ago i found a reason and desire to quit. And i just woke up one day and havn't had a single fag since.
I think that is the point, if you have a reason to quit you will. And by the sound of it in Shellywoozle's forst post you do. so good on ya mate, i can ensure you that you will feel better for it in a few months.
and good on the rest of ya too. Best of luck with all that are quitting.
congratulaions on not sleeping with a gay guy Rob, i can see why Shell wouldnt be happy :thumright:
same to you MM :thumright:
Seriously, a post for 2 weeks???

Have you ever give up a vice? He had lots of ups and downs and I know what it like as I did it many years ago. I am proud he stuck at it as he given up for me as I don't smoke .....,so in my eyes this post is justified.
Want him to have something to read when he is tempted so he will remember if the urge gets the better off him I WILL cut his fingers off ;)

I have smoked for 15 years and at it's height 30-40 a day. And I have quits few addictions in the past, but smoking was the one I never could. It's by no means easy, but I I stop next to some customers smoking the other day and that didn't bother me. but yes a reason to stop to been needed whatever is it.
Nor am i. Speedplay ya only jeleous ya can't have me. I wonder why you kept taking pics of me ;)

Yes, I have, smoking of the normal type, and of the green type, all at once cold turkey.
I never felt the need to create a post nor seek any gratification for it. This could be done via a private message. Does the world really need to know? What about all the other people in the world who may be giving up?

Rob is not seeking gratification and do half the posts on this site need to be posted. If u don't like what u read then there is a block button, so get pressing it and do me a favour. Thank you.

Good for you to be able to quit so easy, however not everyone is lucky enough to be able to do the same. And it is constant support from people that help you get through things.
The first couple of weeks are the hardest! and when most support is neaded as so many people find that without support from people they will quickly slip back into old habbits. That goes for not just quitting smoking, but all hard moments in life. We all have them. and we should all be more supportive of one another.
As has already been said you you dont wish to read about other people......dont read about it!

I stopped smoking full time last Christmas, can't say it was particularly difficult to be honest, I smoked 5 to 20 (closer to top of that) a day since I was about 14.
I've had a couple of nights on the booze when I've smoked heavily, and a few weekends away when it's gone out of the window. But sod it, I don't need to smoke every day and the odd couple when blathered doesn't do any harm IMO.
I would quite happily start smoking again now, but common sense says it's not worth the expense and health risk.

Rofl... god forbid we might actually talk about some f*ckin motorbikes!!

I still have to put up with smokers at work, as the legislation doesn't apply to where I work
So good on you for quitting, you'll see the difference in you wallet & your health, so keep it up :santa:

Rob, stop being a wuss and get it done, end of, you'll live longer.
Buy a dirt bike so that every time you want a ciggie, have a ride on your new dirt bike instead.
Hope this helps :)

I did summit similar (i bought a brand new street triple) :D
I have got to add, considering i had smoked for 20 years (14-34) it wasnt as hard as i thought it would be. 99% comes down to how badly you want to give up. Determination and will-power. The hardest part was tryin 'not' to tire out the missus :p

Yup, only reason my caberg flip lid didn't go in the bin a long time since is because I could have a smoke on the move... meant an extra 5 minutes in bed before uni at least. Though I did get very funny looks from a lot of people pulling onto the M62... lid up, rolly in mouth... eyes streaming. Be careful as when they burn down they melt your gloves.
