View Full Version : Recommended tyres for my SV?

Hi all,
I've just bought an 2000 SV650 as my first bike. I could do with a new set of tires. With so many available options i'm a bit overwhelmed. I dont want super soft tyres. Ideally i want a "good all rounder" for wet and dry days all year round.
Just wondered what people recommend? (Not to expensive either ;))
Cheers

No probs mate, im just about to get new tyres and also find it hard to choose but reading on here that most people go with the storm ultra 2's so thats what i might fit but im also looking at the conti road attack 2's but im still unsure.

avon storm 2s for me and i've found them to be very good. seem to have a decent lifespan too.

i had bridgestone bt021s before the avons and was not overly impressed with them to be honest.

the avons are a great tyre, had 3 sets of them so far, but my local garage was out of stock when i got a gash in my tyre so i had to get a maxxis rear, but it works very well with avon front and since i scrubbed the back tyre in, not had even a small slip

I have michelin PR2s on my SV, can't fault them, will probably try the storm 2s next

Dunlop roadsmarts get my vote. The conti's are good tires I'm sure TC252 raced on them for part of the last season

COntinental road attacks, sticky, long lasting and cheap.

+1 on the Conti Road Attacks. I've had two sets now and love them.

I used the bt 021 on both my SV with no real problems but then the technology of them is getting on a bit now.

I'm a fan of conti sport attack on my bike but as its not an sv, cant comment.

When it comes to tyres, everyone has their own opinion.
Everyone rides differently and wants different things from their tyres.

Best advice is to just pick a decent branded tyre and give it a try.

****ing awesome :)

Dont expect much change from 5000 miles if you ride like a knob though:mrgreen:

Yesterdays best is todays bargain, but still **** hot.
Pirelli Diablo Strada for an ST,most will struggle to out ride this tire, imho
Metzeler M3 for a faster tyre.

Rang up my local garage and they said that they recommend the Bridgestone BT021 and they are better than the conti road attacks and Avon storm 2's. They were also cheaper than these two as bridgestone havent increased there prices yet so im getting a set fitted tomorrow. Let you know how it goes!

Possibly also cos the 021 is getting phased out for the 023 and the other 2 are newer tyre designs.

Dont know many that like or get on with the Bridgestone's so you will have to let us know what you think if you get them.

Indeed, just because I like X brand of tyres doesn't mean you will.
One mans meat is another mans poison

Except the old Z4s pretty much everyone thought they were rubbish
